Default Airto Moreira

When I first discovered this website, I was first getting serious about drumming. His was one of the first videos I saw. I thought it was soo odd and I couldn't appreciate him as much as I could Thomas lang, Marco Minneman, Virgil Donati...I can say almost 5 years later, and my views of drumming have changed dramatically. I now appreciate more drummers like Brian Blade, Stanton Moore, Manu Katche,Gadd... I now realise that it's not about the amount of notes you play, but how you play them that's important. Airto Moreira is a real artist. Today I watched his videos for the first time in 5 years and I appreciate him more than ever. He's is no longer odd to me, but unique. A real percussionist and artist.

I remember seeing him and Flora Purim in Boston, at the Orpheum Theatre, years ago. He did a tambourine solo for, what seemed like, 10 minutes and was enthralling.
