I saw these over on PDF but I forgot to comment. They look great, and I know you got them for a STEAL. It was through Forks right? I know they were blowing these out for either $999 or $1100 on Ebay. Is that what you paid?

Thanks. Yeah, I paid $1199 from Fork's, and then they dropped the price to $999 after I bought them. So, I called them up, and they gave me a great price (much better than 50% off) on the Giant Beat crashes to 'make-up' for it.

This my first time doing business w/Fork's, and I highly recommend them -- especially 'Tommy' who works over there. :)

Considering those are $1850 usually, you stole them. :)

I think I've bought from them before on Ebay. I don't quite remember. I think it was a Catalina Birch set that I bought there.

^ Yeah, LOL. I've seen then everywhere else for $1850 so I jumped all-over the $1200 price tag.

I understand that this finish is being discontinued, but that's ok with me. :)

I paid $1700 for mine and then a few months later they came out with a Merlot Sparkle finish which is Ltd. Edition which I love. That irritated me...then I saw a new one on Ebay for $1300. That didn't help :)

Beautiful kit! I almost bought these on eBay myself, a couple weeks ago. I went w/ a 4pc Ludwig USA Maple instead. I've never played giant beats, how do they differ from 2oo2?

The $1850 includes the snare, I believe...that's why the 3pc. configuration was going so cheap.

Nope, it only includes the toms and bass. My New Classic Bop kit didn't include the snare for $1700. This shell pack is more expensive because of the larger sizes.

Had I not found my Renowns on Craigslist, my local Ma & Pa had a champagne set for 1500.oo that I was going to scoop up. Congrats on a great set that will last you forever. I love it.

Thanks!

I haven't played 2002's before (except for HiHats), but the Giant Beats seem to be quite versatile given their sizes. I was sold after seeing Jason McGerr playing them in the MD Festival DVD. Also, as with most Paiste's, they sound sonically 'matched' to each other perfectly.

You can see a quick 2:00 video of Jason playing these on Paiste's web site.

Honestly, had I not found these New Classics I would have been all over a nice Cherry-Burst Renown kit!

Honestly I like the New Classics more. They seem to have more natural overtone control and a little less resonance. They sound more old-school to my ear.

My Brady came from Fork's Drum Closet. I have purchased a few things from them over the years and I would agree, they are great! Its my favorite drum shop.

BTW,I like your kit too!

I don't know how to say it-- your kit is pretty much just perfect. Perfect! When I win the lottery, this is the kit I'm getting. Fantastic choice in everything! Plus I just know that is sounds absolutely amazing. Excuse me while I wipe up my saliva.

Thanks all. I'm really enjoying the heck out of everything right now -- especially the ride cymbal. It's much more versatile than I first thought.

Just to praise this godly kit even more... I just stopped by a drum shop in Sacramento (where I'm vacationing) and played the GB hi-hats and the 20" multi model. They sound beautiful! Really great stuff. I'd like to own those hats.

Cool set up, it looks a lot like Jason McGerr's rig.

Those hats look absolutely huge, and 18" Giant Beats seem to be the perfect sound in a crash cymbal...pretty much, really nice cymbals.

Are New Classics full maple? If so, wicked steal on getting them under $1500, if they sound anything like they look than kudos.

It's funny that you should mention Jason McGerr as I wasn't considering Giant Beats whatsoever until I saw him playing them on MD Festival 2006 DVD.

The 18" is by far my favorite of the group as it's *the* sound I hear in my head when I think of the ultimate cymbal.

Regarding the hats; they are huge, but they sound great, and they blend with the rest of the Giant Beats perfectly.

Thanks all once again for the kind words!
