Default OH my...old.

I didn't even know these photos existed...till recently.

These are from 1993. I was...uh...19. .very skinny. My parents hooked me up with a Tama Swingstar and a Pearl Custom Classic Birds-eye Maple snare when I was 13 or 14. I eventually added the cymbal orientation I wanted (sabians) dropped the second bass drum for a Pearl P-9## double pedal...all this when I moved out at 17 years old. Talk about being p-o-o-r. I couldn't make enough to mount my third tom...much less eat. Damn, I had a good time playing though. It was most definitely the great time in life, despite the adversity.

Then...

A whole bunch of years later, the US Navy, wife, kids, different setup...I'm still playing and loving it like it was yesterday
.

Anyone else have something of the "old" closet?

Thanks for letting me share.

Andy

I see your tom angles changed over the years.

Here a couple from when I was about 16, 17 or so (I'm 23 now). Tama Swingstar with ZBT cymbals... I worked all summer to buy it when I was 14, and cashed in all my savings bonds from when I was younger as well. I loved this kit with all my heart and played it religiously, and totally rocked out- I played my first gig on this kit, and trekked it up many sets of stairs and hallways.

Wow, I see lots of people once owned a swingstar. Can't blame them, they're nice kits. Here's my old swingstar:

But that was taken in 2006. I had that one since '00 I think. Replaced it with a superstar custom last april.

My swingstar didn't even have wood shells. Like a fiberglass compound. I worked it up to a 8 piece, then sold half of it when I moved out. Those pics above is what was left. I never did mount that 11" tom.

swing star's were pretty nice kits for the price. I woulden't mind picking a good set up of swingstars for cheap to use as a gigging kit.
