Default Comparison of Audix D-4/D-2 for 14" toms

I am shopping for drum mics and am very interested in the Audix products. I have used the D-2s on toms (rack toms only), but not the D-4. I now notice that every drum mic pack that Audix offers seems to include the D-4 for the floor tom. My largest tom is a 14, and I'm wondering if anyone has done a comparison between the two mics on 14" toms. Will the D-2 be lacking the depth to translate the tom well, or does the D-4 sound strangely bottom heavy in comparison to the rest of the toms (with D-2s on them).

Thanks for your input.

Default Re: Comparison of Audix D-4/D-2 for 14" toms

I use d2 on my racks and d4 on my 14 and 16 floors with a frequency response of 40 Hz-18kHz the d4 has plenty of mid that reproduces the drums well. I have been very happy with how this setup is working for me.
