yep-these are right after staining. I'll put on a semi-gloss clear coat tomorrow

nope- pearl forum series is poplar (I've only seen poplar in Pearl drums and a few stave snares- most sompanies go for cheap mahagony instead)

-16x16, 8x10, 11x13 - mini bop :)

I thought the stain turned out well- pretty close to the color I had in my head. I also have make the floor tom into a bass drum. I made a crade a while ago, but I don't really like it. I like the 40 cent bass/tom conversion idea I saw from acrolite on the drummercafe forums. It's basically attaching L-brackets to the bottom two tension rods and putting some wood between them. Then I need to figure out spurs (modify the legs maybe...)

Ideally, I'd like to be able to leave one kit at home and one at someone's house but I don't have enough cymbals or hardware.

Anyways, I'll post more pics at later stages.

An other alternative to convert your floor into a bass drum would be to buy one of these type of legs that fit in the normal floor tom leg mount.
pearl:

Gibraltar:

Also a tom mount for floor tom that fit in the leg mount:

Nice, that's gonna look sweet with some hardware! That stain looks great.

OK I am confused, Did you modify the pearls?? If you did you also say that you would like to leave one set at home and the other at a friends house. So wheres the other set?

That turned out really nice. What batter head are you running on the converted floor/bass drum?

I need new heads for the bass drum (probably g1 coated batter and fiberskyn reso like my other kit), but otherwise it's working pretty good. I have single ply coated aquariansover evans resonant heads on the toms and they sound pretty good.

-Anyone have the secret formula for heads on small bass drums?

Also, I plan on having the beater hit center with a (softer) felt beater
