My first real concert was Skankin' Pickle. I was fourteen ('93/94ish). They played an all-ages show at a record shop in NO, a few hours prior to their gig at a club. They were great. I got to meet a couple of the band members and had them sign a poster for me. A couple friends of mine were hanging out with the rest of the band in their van. I remember their saxaphone player was upset because while setting up their gear at the club, a PA speaker fell and crushed his sax. He had to buy a used one from a local pawn shop.

My oldest son's first concert, sort of, was Clutch. He was still in the womb. I'm fairly certain he heard what was going on though.

He's a lucky boy. One of my favorite bands right there. If that didn't shape him in some way or form and put him towards music I don't know what will. Nothing like hearing JP Gaster while still in the womb :)

I saw The Baby's at Cerritos College, CA. in the 70's when the singer had pink hair.
I was home sick that day and my brother who was the cartoonist for the college paper came home and took me to see them. I still can't figure out why girls scream.

My first concert was the Atlantic City Rock Festivel, 1969! I saw Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa, Three Dog Night, and The Buddy Miles Express. The Buddy Miles show was fantastic (to a 15 year old). (Buddy was playing his "Nude Woman" kit...also impressive to a 15 year old...LOL!)

Yep, Three Dog Night in Harrisburg, PA...1970! Floyd did his "Glowing Hands in the Dark" routine. Very Cool!

What ever happened to Black Lights?

mine would have to be Green Day at Gillete Stadium in 2005. It was The Used, Jimmy Eat World, and Green Day. it was so kick ass. there was one point where they played knowlage (really old song) and they invited kids on stae to play it. and they gave away a gibson les paul, one of tre's cymbals and a bunch of sticks, and the bassist got an autograph and a bass. i didnt go on stage though haha. though i'd share that. I'm not over fourty but, my second was Barenaked Ladies (opening night!) and in february i'm going to Angels & Airwaves with my girlfriend!

Warped Tour 2004

Lots of that day blurs together at this point but I remember watching The Casualties, Bowling For Soup, Flogging Molly, Coheed & Cambria, Yellowcard, and New Found Glory.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of any of those today but the entire warped tour experience was mind-blowing at the age of 14.

Rush - Signals tour in 1982.

I was 19, and kind of a late bloomer to the concert scene.

My second concert was Def Leppard, Scorpions and Ted Nugent, in 1983.

Both at the, now no longer standing, Capital Center, in Largo, Md.

Both OUTSTANDING shows!

Foo Fighters this february at MSG was my first, im 16, also a late bloomer in the concert scene. We had General admission, we were like 1 row from the stage, soooooo intense. Amazing show, cant believe they still have this much energy, Grohl really loves what he does, and Taylor Hawkins is a pretty darn solid drummer, but the main thing that impressed me about him was the utube video of him performing YYZ to perfection.

The second was Godsmack at Saratoga. REALLY GOOD! I was always a fan of Shannon Larkin since like i was 10 years old. I thought he was insanely creative, and he still is. He also played basically every song perfectly, just like on the albums. I find that to be one of the hardest things to do live...and that ride is amazing.

Hmmm, hard to remember which was first? Saw Woody Herman (jazz/big band) around 1972(?) and Maynard Ferguson around the same time? And no, neither of them bit the head off of anything....or spit up blood, etc.

Might have been interesting though....

Neil is always great.
Pat is a really good drummer too. From what I heard (or read) he was one of the top choices for Gregg's position w/DLR...................but I guess at the time he did not play Double Bass. Could have been a rumor.

AC/DC at my local town hall in 1976 it cost $3. They blew my mind that night and I still listen to Bon Scott and the boys today. Angus had so much energy it was amazing. The rhythm section, Malcom, Mark Evans and of course Phil Rudd were like a well oiled machine. What a band.

Santana. Palladium. Forget the year. Soul Sacrifice. Those congas and timbales with that hypnotic bass line.... gooseflesh....

I'd never head anything like it before. My mom's jazz records and my CCR collection was it at the time.
