Default Canopus Zelkova 14X6.5

I just got a Canopus Solid Zelkova on ebay. My snare buying days are done.

Well arrived safe and sound. Excellent packing, double boxed. I am so very glad. Its one fine snare drum. It has a deep body sound that my staves do not have. Different woods mind you. I have to say its unlike any wood snare I have ever tried. I will be keeping this one for a long time to come.

PS those are the original pics from the original owner. Not my stave kit in those photos....hell I dont even own a stave kit.
:D

Wow, beautiful drum. You do have an eye for the exotic! Staves and steambents are nice and definitely a cut above ply, but nothing compares to a natural whole wood shell - totally unchanged from how it existed in the living tree. While it seems unusual, it's actually the most ancient way of making a drum.

The drum has a slight curve on the outside - or is that an illusion?

Correct it has a beveled surface. Its got a really unique sound. I never even knew about them four months ago. I did know about sold maple shells by Luka in Quebec Canada.

I was informed about these drums by the ex road drummer for the Monkees who sold me his personal Sonor Signature Bubinga Kit. He told me when I got my Spirit of 2002 that to finish the collection I needed one of these. He was right.
