Default Bass Pedal Drives...

So, I have a (double) bass drum pedal, the Pearl Eliminators with the double-chain drive. Is it possible to buy a strap drive and apply it to this model?

Yup

From Pearl's website:

"Belt Drive and Dual Chain Drive
PowerShifter Eliminator pedals are available with either dual chain drive or belt drive. The belt is made from three plies of super-strength polymers for extreme dependability, smoothness and quiet action. Both chain and belt drives are adjustable to allow the angle of the footboard to be set to ones preference. Additionally, the chain (model #CCA-5) and belt (model #BCA-1), both available at your authorized Pearl dealer, can be quickly interchanged using only a drumkey and Phillips head screwdriver."

Yes, you can do it. I have the Eliminator (2 singles) as well.

As a long time fan of strap drives myself, I bought a Eliminator strap to change mine over.
It was easy to do, no problems, real quick too.

However....

I have to say I thought the feel of Pearl's strap was pretty crappy.

It seemed real rubbery, and didn't feel like it was doing what my foot was.

It also didn't conform to the cam like a nylon strap does at all.
It kinda goes over the cam, and was only pulled down by the footboard.

Changing the Cams didn't really make a difference, so the cool thing about changing the feel by changing the cam is useless with the strap (I found anyway).

I was kind of dissapointed, but the chain has been great.

It's not expensive to try it, but I thought I'd pass this along.

The pedal is great, and I love that the feel on the upstroke is the same as pushing down.
