I have used them on my toms before and they do sound good. They give off a much brighter sound than the coated emperors. I had recorded myself one time just messing around. The first drum solo, I had coated emperors, and the second one I had smooth white and I was surprised how much brighter the smooth whites are. For me personally, they are a little too bright, but that may be the sound you are looking for.

My mates got some on his kit, they sound good he has a fusion kit though, they sound good tuned higher or lower, and they look really sick! Definitely a good choice but do some more research first they might not be for you.

i have coated emperors at the moment and am not really digging the sound. i really want a bright sound so i might give these a try and see what they sound like.

either i got a super good head or these smooth whites are super durable because ive had one on my snare for atleast 7 months and it still sounds amazing, i cant believe i havent had to change it!

having them setup under stage lights is awesome, they shine nearly as much as the kit!

I used these on the bass drum for a long time several ago (before they even advertised them).

I had great luck with them, and at one time I even had one on the front that I painted (so, front and back at the same time).

The sound was fat and solid, & some of the higher tones were cut down a bit...which is good on a kick anyway.

I haven't tried them on the toms since I like Coated Ambassadors, or Coated Emps but if you want a brighter tom sound, they should do it.

I'd try one tom first, so you're not spending a lot of dough if you don't like the sound.

If you can (and the shop has a few of each size in stock), it's smart to do a 'tap test' and pick the ones that vibrate well. Those are the ones that won't sound dead on the drum.
Emps can be funny that way.
