Default Istanbul Agop '06 Limited Edition Bling

Great jazz rides. They play thinner than the 2400+ grams that each weighs......

They sound great and they're both different. The different bells may be key to that. They both produce a nice clean stick but have a lot going on underneath- definitely built for quieter applications. I'm hoping they both dry out a bit over time. The internet cymbal shop owner sent me both cymbals with the understanding that I'd likely choose one and send the other back. We'll see.....

Beautiful pies!

Wow an old thread on the high bell {right} and the low bell {left} Agop 06 rides. Great Stuff Bill.

Love my low bell, jazz bell as it's called version at 2385 grams Bill. Amazing ride cymbal and only a few still available on one online dealer site and a few still left a few miles from me at the local Agop distributors local and that's it. The 300 limited edition run are all but gone incuding the 50/50 low and high bell 06 rides slotted for North America except the few at the Cymbal Shop for sale and the 3 left here in Vancouver by my information i've managed to put together. One could always email Agop to clarify that if they want just to be sure.

You will need to do some checking around on your side of the pond Karl to see if any dealers still have the odd one of either version in stock to hear one in the flesh.

I kept the high bell, and traded the low bell for a 22" Agop SE Prototype ride (pictured) and a 20" regular SE ride. The high bell ride fit my needs better than the low bell, and the heavier prototype ride is a trash lover's dream.

Thanks for chiming in Bill and the update and nice to hear the high bell is suiting your needs. Great pic of the SE prototype. Love to hear that baby!

Thanks again for the pic Bill it's a beauty.

AHHHH! That SE is simply beautiful...I plan to get one as well.
How is its weight? I personally love the sound of those SE Rides...I get really weak inside when I hear one...especially the lighter 22" models.

Karl,

The SE in the picture is a prototype. It differs from a regular SE. It has a higher profile, is completely lathed underneath, and has a slight downward flange at the edge. Additionally, the bell is perhaps a bit smaller and higher than a regular SE, and the prototype cymbal is more heavily hammered. It's also on the heavier side at around 2600 grams.

Looks very similar in general character Bill to my lightweight SE TW at 2235 grams sharing some similar characteristics to your proto description {except the weight} we found hiding out in the back of pile of cymbals at the Canadian Agop warehouse.

I'll post a pic so you can see it and yes it is fully lathed underneath. It got left behind from the very first Agop TW run after everyone went for the heavier ones so it was just waiting to find a good home and it certainly did . Love the sound of this "light" version:

That TW is insanely hammered!!! By the way, I have a 22" 2248g TW, as well as a 22", 2600g TW- both great rides.

We should do an Agop pic-fest.....

Cool Bill on the TW's. You have a very nice selection indeed. Yes even under more normal light this TW is a real stunner in the visual hand hammering department just as much as in where it really counts the sound department.

No kidding since I think between the two of us we've got a good selection of Agop pics covered LOL!...

Darn right Kona. Hey what's was the serial # of the 06 jazz bell you picked up from Noel out of curiousity. I've got #027 stamped on top at the base of the bell. Yours must be close due to coming in at the same time Kona.

Here's my contribution guys to the Agop pic fest my 06 jazz bell at 2385 grams top and bottom pics:
