Default Bass practice pad - Pearl's or Gibraltar's?

I've never tried the bass practice pad by either brands but I know that the local stores are selling them. I plan to get one though and I would like some opinions from the board.

Which is better? Do they jerk alot when playing with the pedal clamped on? Which provides a better feel? Are they sturdy? Do they work on concrete/wooden floors? Are they effective in improving footwork?

Pearl's: http://shopproducts.howstuffworks.co...1/PID-29547238

Gibraltar's: http://shopproducts.howstuffworks.co...1/PID-29500464

Thanks!

I've owned and used the Pearl for about 4 years and it's very solid. The feel is a bit different than a bass drum, so I personally find it strange going from one to the other. The Gibraltar may have more of a natural feel in that regard. But I don't regret my decision. It is built well and stays put. It has spikes on the front so it doesn't move though it may mark up the floor.

I havent played the pearl one, but i have played the Gibraltar. It is pretty nice, and you wont be sorry buying it. But i would try both out and see how you feel.

A friend of mine has the Pearl's and he said that when the pedal is clamped, the beaters fall back way more than it would than when it's on the bass drum.

What's the problem here?

The beaters would propably be hitting your feet on their way back from the pad.

Ive kind of a similar dilema if anyone could offer any advice.Im was thinking of getting the pearl, but when i move house im getting a new roland td6 sooooo instead should i pay a bit extra and get a kick pad for the td6 now before getting the kit. that way i could practice and when i get the kit i have an extra pad to play with. any thoughts

I notice no difference in how the beater falls back when clamped to the pad vs. a drum on the pearl pad.
