Default My Pearl Masters

Upgraded my kit from a Sonor Force 2005 to a Pearl Masters Studio.
I find it so much better playing a 20' kick, no more 'Power sizes' for me.
I’ve gone from playing rock/metal to swinging jazz and blues in the past year so needed to upgrade my kit to match my new passion for all things swinging.

I’d like to upgrade the vaults and maybe find a new snare.
So all suggestions and criticisms of my set up are welcome..

Oh and yes, I’m a lefty! ; )

Pearl Masters Studio.
20' kick
10' 12' 14' toms
14 x 5.5' Sonor Wood Snare

Sabian: Vaults 16' 18' crashes
Sabian: HHX Dave Weckl Signature Evolution Hi-Hats
Zildjian K custum 20' ride

Pearl HH-2 Cla-bell

Nice kit dude-- whoa whoa "upgrade" the vaults? Is there somewhere else to go that I don't know about? Those are some real nice cymbals, and they seem like they would work well for blues. They might be too bright for jazz but still I wouldn't say they're bad cymbals.

The natural look is always in style. Looks like a pretty cool practice space you got there, too.

Nice kit man! I too have a masters, but my finish is much less beautiful than yours! Is that platinum mist or natural? Looking at left handed kits always freaks me out. I don't know why.

I couldn't stand a 20" kick, good luck with that one. One of these days I'll get around to setting my kit up left-handed for a while to try everything that way too. Probably a good exercise to do. May I recommend Promark Hickory Jazz sticks (Elvin Jones signature). These are great, I just got a pair and so much better than what I've seen offered by VF.
As for kit sizes, I'm looking to do the opposite. I've got a 'studio' kit now with 10,12,14,16 suspended toms but I'm getting tired of the modern flavor. I'm looking into a 26,13,16,18 in white marine pearl for retro flavor. I like the big band era sound more than the bebop thing. Also, for playing other styles I think the lower pitched drums blend more than high pitched drums that seem out of place because they aren't playing the right note.
