Any of the leading top of the line pedals can be contenders. Plenty of older pedals can also be considered "in the running" still. Find a pedal that feels good "to you" and work it. Just owning an Axis, Sonor, Trick, DW, Tama IC, Yamaha FDDD, Pearl Elim., Camco, Ghost or Speed King in and of itself will not give you speed. Hours and hours of practice with a pedal you feel comfortable with will.

Theres loads of threads on this so av a gander, but any pedal will do really, the main contendors being peral eliminators, tama iron cobras,dw 9000 or 5000,trick pedals, axis and then sonor an mapex all have there pedals etc. At the end of the day the best thing to do is try the pedals yourself,an then practice. Its you moving the pedal not the other way around

The fastest pedal eh? Well make sure the pedal isn't (dare I say it) TOO fast. You might wind up rushing or playing sloppily if you can't control your pedal! So make SURE you try before you buy!

I just tried out a speed king, and i say its great. There is no fastest pedal, i guess it has to deal with spring tension.

I'd put my money on the rudder control pedals of the SR-71 Blackbird.

Any pedal with decent ball-bearings will get you to high speeds. I play both a Tama iron cobra junior power glide pedal and a pearl powershifter, I think the powerglide design of the tama allows me to play slightly faster.
I've also played iron cobra's, they didn't really feel any better than the powershifter and junior but that might be because of the spring tension in that particular one. I think the iron cobra junior uses the same bearings as the regular iron cobra, and the powershifter uses similar bearings. The difference in price is mainly because of the small details that make the eliminator and IC so customizable in terms of beater angle, spring tension, footboard length etc.

Good choice! But the SR-71 is above my budget... ;)

He he he.

To those who say its not the pedal, but your foot..somewhat true.
But the pedal needs to keep up with the foot on the up stroke and that is where a compression spring is your friend.

...and a damn good ball at that! would you happen to know the spin-rate and trajectory of an Axis longboard. also, are they the longest pedals in drums?.. The swing speed of pedal, I hear is very good and the stiff shaft of the beater gives the bass drum hit plenty of packspin and control.
