Default My Natural Finish RMVs

A few random pictures, both new and old:

Those B8 hats were only in that unreachable position for a while because I had no where to clamp them, I've now got a pair of 13" HHX Groove hats in their place where the 10" Mini Hats are and the 10" Mini Hats have moved over to the left side!

Enjoy!

Very nice RMV's, I have the same kit sizes but in Granite Sparkle wrap. If I'm not mistaken, you are on the PDF correct? I saw the pictures of your kit there before purchasing mine, read some very good reviews and saw some very good pictures of other member's kits there, it definitely helped my decision in purchasing the drums I don't think I would want to be playing piano in front of your kit while you are playing! ;-)

I browse there every now and then, I'm a regular at the Derek Roddy forum though. How do you like the RMVs? I love them! I'm going to order a second smaller kit from them this summer, I was thinking of getting short stacks from them as well! Amazing drums!

Yes, I love the drums too, excellent sonic qualities at a surreal low price! Might as well pass this along to those who might be looking. A 7 piece RMV with "studio" shells (4mm shells with 2mm reinforcement rings in the drums) in blue sparkle wrap, new, from an internet retailer, for $859 plus $125 shipping, that's a little less than I paid just a few months ago for the same kit. Heres the link -

Does no one like my poor RMVs? Would a pic of just the cymbals help?

Aw, I love your RMV's. Sad reality is that it's not enough of a household name with almost non-existent advertising, and as a result, doesn't have the reputation or panache that other manufacturers enjoy. But to the owners who have them, it's our dirty little secret, we know what we got ;-).

I know how you feel Dom, I too did not have anywhere nearby to hear or see them in person, so I took a leap of faith based on several good reviews, both professional and amateur, and from speaking to the shop owner directly (Dana of Bentley Drum Shop) - after all was said and done and waiting and wondering if I had made the right decision, I was rewarded very handsomely when the drums were delivered. Like has already been said, composite hardware pieces are not for everyone and the the drum key/hex wrench necessity to adjust the drums is not as convenient, but if you were to take a leap of faith yourself, I give you my word that you will not in any way be disappointed with how these drums sound.

Thats what I did as well. I heard so much about them and loved the fact that you get black hardware with the kits, that and the finish was amazing, I didn't expect them to sound so good when I got them!

They're definately nice drums, and i'm sure well made, but i do think using a drum key for everything could prove to be a hassle. also, it appears that the lugs, although being of "normal" lug size, only has one fastener on the inside of the drum. I wonder if this makes a difference either way?

Mapex is the same with their lugs, only one screw holding the lug to the shell. Lugs from both companies are similar in that there is a small "nub" on the underside of the lug that rests in a divot drilled lightly in the shell, so that the lug will not turn/rotate/misalign on the shell when being held in place by only one screw. The design works fine. Yes, drum key adjustment is a bit of a pain, but I suppose if you really wanted, you could find wingnut/butterfly type screws from another drum company that could replace hex/drum head screws, but as I stated in my original review, this is a minor inconvenience for the superb quality of high-end professional sound you get with these kits, for such a stupid low price, and in the end, it's the sound that ultimately counts.

Speaking of all the Pros of RMV, the people at the company are SUPER nice. When I recieved my kit there was a small separation between the reinforcement ring and the main shell, as if the glue gave out at that one point. I told them about it/sent them pictures and they sent me a FREE brand new 12" tom, and I get to keep the old one, which still sounds perfect by the way!

Woah awesome drums man! I really love the black hardware and those pedals. I'm not a big fan of Sabian but boy do those look nice! I never heard of RMV but I'll sure check 'em out from the looks of those drums.
