haha, glad you love it! but hey, if I did such a thing with my kits (selling, buying, selling, buying etc.) my parents would kick me.

But yeah, sometimes it seems necessary to sell and buy to find the perfect "voice".
...a similar problem I had/have with my cymbal choice. It developed much in the last time...

maybe next time I can buy an Istanbul Mehmet Traditional thin crash through selling old toys or so. :-)
but back to topic: You have got a beautiful kit!

Hateplow,
That set is really coming along now, with the addition of the snare. A couple questions. How do you like the SKII on the bass drum? How do you like the stock heads on the toms? I've heard those heads sound really good. Give me your impressions of the bubinga.

The Aquarian Superkick II is just as good, if not better than the EMAD. Makes the 18x22 sound bigger than it is. I think it was actually a few dollars more than the EMAD, though.
I was pleasantly suprised with the stock heads. The single ply really makes the toms sing. I used to prefer a little less resonance and more "thud", but I'm starting to enjoy the difference.
The bubinga snare is very loud and very low pitched, and very resonant. I think if I ever get a place big enough, I will own a bubinga kit...someday.

I wanted to see what you thought about the SKII. I have it on my 18"x24" keller shell DW bass drum and love it. I'm thinking of ordering a set of the DW heads for the toms.

I'm starting my own gang:
We're the "We're better than you on our $400 dollar drums so there... Even if we aren't... We're delusional so deal with it!"

Heh, yea right.
Nice drums, I'd love to play em. My Stagestar is easier to carry though.

That's going to be hard to get stiched on leather jackets

God that green burst is gorgeous and I love the natural color of the bubinga on the inside of shell.

Why are the exotic? They don't seem exotic, just another DW marketing scheme I'll bet, but they are pretty.

Because of the exotic veneer on the outside of the shell. I'm shocked to think that a company would put money into a marketing scheme that makes their drums more desirable to the public and sells more kits than they would have other wise... Isn't that just good business?
Just get over the DW thing. Just because they have probably the most effective marketing/advertising scheme in the industry doesn't mean their drums are inferior and they are stealing from their customers. They are the Ludwig of this decade.

Oooops, I did it again. Look, DW's are ok drums, not the Ludwig of this decade, at least not in terms of sound, maybe in sales. I really don't care how great you guys think these drums sound, I've heard them, and the only thing that really impressed me was the kick. They don't tune well, they all pretty much have the same DW trademark sound, which I'm not particularly fond of, and the DW rims system puts a lot of metal over that "exotic" finish. They are pretty drums though, no doubt about it.

These drums have an incredible tuning range. That's why just about every pro plays one. There are about 50 other DW bashing threads for you to whine about how overrated they are, find one of those.

Not whining, justed stating an opinion, when I see all you DW lovers having orgasams over how great you think they sound I have as much right to give an opposit opinion. Just about every pro plays one because of the DW mystic. I can remember years ago everyone seemed tp be playing Pearl, it's a fad, nothing more.

Gosh, would'nt it be nice if someone could post some pictures of a beautiful, high quality kit and not have to get into an argument about the drums? Eh, maybe its asking too much for people to be polite and keep the comments relevant.

Anyway, great drums, I love the grain pattern and I bet they sound amazing.

I agree totally. Reminds me of the saying "Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got them and they all stink."
DW bashing is just silly.
They really do sound as good as they look, I'm very happy. Thanks for bumping my thread!

Added on some Paiste Dark Crisp Hats today, and finally broke down and removed the tags.

This is definitely not the place to be bashing DW's. This is a thread about your kit and how proud you are of it. I think it's just wrong to come into this thread and start dogging someone's drum kit. That really is a beautiful set and I KNOW it sounds as good as it looks!

Wrong! Not bashing DW's, just stating an opinion, to me they are nice drums, but there is way too much hype about them. They even claim there wrapped drums are just another ply...... a ply of plastic I guess. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the drums, only the hype behind them and all the orgasm's over them.

If you do... you MUST REALLY love them. I would probably still have them too.
