Default Double bass pedal extension

Hi, does anyone know of a way to make the extention between the pedals longer? I have them on maximum reach and would be more comfortable if they were further out.

Thanks

Convince yourself that it's comfortable as is, or that it might be comfortable closer together.

You might be able to find a pedal that extends further than your current one, or find a larger middle section and switch it out.

Not sure what pedal you have , but I have seen some DW players use a double pedal and have quite a large extension for a auxillary bass drum. As for other manufacturers I dont know. If you cant find anything... then I would think that a good machine shop would be able to make something for you.

You are sure you have actually unscrewed the little things and extended them past what the smallest amount stretched is?

If so, i guess there are two choices.

1- get use to it.
2- get a new pedal.

You shouldnt have to "Get used to it"

It is important for the gear to fit with the player, not the other way around.

I would suggest asking your drum dealer where you could find a longer one.

More info. What kind of pedal do you have? How much "reach" do you have now? How much "more reach" do you need? Darn near anything is possible, especially if you have money. Or are handy with tools. A lot of drive systems are basically interchangeable, so all that may be required is for you to order a replacement "drive shaft", probably from another manufacture, to get the distance you desire. If you know a welder, or can weld yourself, I would think ordering a second matching drive shaft and then combining the two (making a custom drive shaft) would certainly do the trick.

from the dw website. go to http://www.dwdrums.com/pedals/5000Pedals.htm# and look at the bottom of the page under Specialty pedals. I would think you could just buy the extension part that you need.

"For placing remote bass drum to right of primary pedal, standard 3-foot universal. Custom lengths available upon request."

I have the Big Dog double pedal, the extention is at a maximum of about 18". I would like at a guess up to 24" or 26".

Thanks for your help and ideas, I will look into solving it.

I have an Iron Cobra double pedal. I place the pedal right next to my high-hat pedal so I play the high-hat with my toes and bass pedal with my heel. It is extended about two foot but it looks to extend much further. I just started playing the double around Christmas and I love it. I have to break myself from using it at times so I don't lose my single speed and agility. I feel like I'm cheating but you can add a whole new fuller dimension to your playing with the double. Wow! After further examination I see you can adjust about everything on the Iron Cobra.
