Default Video: Brian Blade - Wayne Shorter - John Patitucci - Danilo Perez

Just thought I`d share this video here. It`s Brian Blade performing a very intense solo, very honest sounding.

http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/brianblade.html

My questions are: When and where was that recorded and can I get/buy the whole concert on DVD?
And how do you like it?

I find it so inspiring, Brian`s playing in general...

Karl

That would be the Wayne Shorter Quartet at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I dunno what year, but the album that song is from is Beyond the Sound Barrier. I was in Borders two days ago and I was looking for a dvd of this but I couldnt find one. Google didn't turn up anything either. Any help, Benhard?

This is from a old television broadcast - Jazz Baltika in Salzau.

Probably no DVD - I check out some tapes and put up some more, ok?

This is probably my favorite video here on drummerworld. It's called Over Shadow Hill Way from the album Joy Rider. Check this one out and tell me what you think.

ha, that is cool indeed. Works well with this song...the only thing I dislike a bit is the overall technical mix....but that may just be me. I just find the piano a bit too calm and the orchestra sounds a bit too overpowering sometimes but other than that, great great find!

ah see but thats just what I love about it, the subtle piano coming up under the thunderous sound of the orchestra. It has gotten me every time.

Early Wayne Shorter clip here

watch how Art really really really drives the band, and aslo look at his ride a 2:58

Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton and Reggie Workman.

(I hope i'm not off topic with the thread)

What do you think about this one? I especially like the intro.

Yeah...the early stands. Somewhere is also a video of Elvin Jones performing in the early days, he always has to put back the bass drum because it has no stopper.

But they had fun anyway, that`s important.

thanks for sharing!

Yes...certainly he is some positive kind of savage.
You know, not just his playing but also this energy and power impresses so much...what a great drummer, it`s so much flowing.

Truly inspirational. I love the way he is feeling the rhythm in that piece.. interesting what he's choosing not to play... : )

Nice Vid, thanks..............
