Default Attack Jeff Ocheltree "Old School" heads

Has anyone used these? I'm very interested, as the concept behind them seems great. I was just wondering if anyone had first-hand experience with them.
Cheers

Bump.

Come on, someone has to have them or tried them.

And one more question; the heads (with exception of bass drum heads and snare side) are single ply "1000 gauge film". What does "1000 gauge" mean? I'm used to all heads being described in thickess of mil. Would they be similar in weight to Ambassadors/G1s?

1000 gauge means 10 mil.

The old school bass heads have wool damping strips.

The heads are deigned to react the same way as the classic Remo heads of old, like what Binham would have used, as Jeff teched for him and got very good results as I sure you know.

Im not sure about durability though.....

Ive never tried them, and Ive heard that the coating wears off real quick.

Cool, cheers. I was just curious about them, still I think it's a good idea. I just read the MD review on them, and they seem pretty good. One thing that is both a good idea and a problem at the same time is that they sell their batter & reso heads in one pack. This is good because the reso head is paired up to match the batter, so they'll sound great. However, this means replacing the reso each time you need to replace the batter. I certainly get much more time between reso changes than batters.

I just ordered those tom packs that come with a batter and resonant side for my all my toms. I couldnt let the deal go by, $15 for each pack and $5 shipping. So I'll let you know how they work out.

I got the Olchtree heads for my toms today (12,14,16 and coated over coated) they have a warmer and fuller sound than the Ambassadors that I had on the toms before I think I may have to stick with Attack for my tom heads from now on though the single ply for the 16 is a little open for my taste. My dad even commented that they sounded better than the Ambs. They seem like quality heads with a nice thick coating.

I cant really say for sure since I've only had the heads on since last night and I havent had time to get much playing in since putting them on.

i've been using ATTACK heads exclusively for about 15 years now and their quality has NEVER been an issue. coating is durable as all heck, no problem. maybe when it's time to change heads i might try the Ocheltree pack sets.

ATTACK seems to get lost in the remo/evans/aquarian shuffle, but drummers owe themselves the shot at trying them. you will be surprised. if anyone is interested Interstate Music seems to have THE best prices of them online and in their catalog. don't know what their pricing is for the Ocheltree heads though as i haven't checked lately.
