Default Another new Mapex M Birch

Seems like there have been a few of these the last week of two. Here's my new Fusion in green fade. The set up pictures were taken in my basement drum room (which I should have built about 1 foot bigger in both directions, it's a tight squeeze).

EC2 heads on the toms, need to get a new head for the snare.

Hats are 14" Zildjian A Mastersounds

Cymbals
16" Avedis Zil Crash
17" Zil A custom fast crash
14" Zil K mini china
16" Paiste Dimensions Thin Crash (not pictured)
20" Paiste Dry heavy ride
8" Sabian AAX splash
6" Sabian B8 splash

12 & 14 " Peace Octobans
14" Brass Piccolo snare

Did you add the Evans heads or did they come with them? Great finish!

Very nice. Keep seeing these new pro m's with the ec2 heads on. They sound good? I was wondering if they choked the small toms a bit on birch? Ive got a sonor 2006 birch & using aquarian super 2's (2ply but 1 ply is thinner) & i would not want to get more focused than they are. If i went evans it would be g2's

Thanks for your comments.

RUSTE I think the toms all sound great with the EC2's. But honestly I never used the stock heads that came with the kit, I just went straight to the EC2s since most people recommended swapping them out asap, so Icant give you a comparison. I'd also read some people saying the snare wasnt very good, but I'm happy with it. I generally tune the heads pretty tight, and I get some good snap out of it. Just depends on your preference I guess. I'd love to get my hands on a Stewart Copeland snare tho, a friend has one and it's just the cats tits.

Yeah I've got that kit too, in the same sizes, but mine is a Transparent Sapphire finish. They're nice, aren't they? Fantastic kits. I've got an EC2 on my 14" tom but it sounds really wet and plasticky, which I suppose might be they're intent. Not my sound, but it's true they have TONS of sustain (no overtones, just pure sustain, it's nice.)
Anyway, congrats, I'm sure you're enjoying it :)
Cel.

MAPEX589 I am going to see the Police on Aug 3rd at MSG in New York, I've heard Stewart's playing has been fantastic. He's my main drum dude (met him last year at a DVD signing) so I cant' wait.

It's actually been a few months since I took pictures of the kit. I got it in April, then the pics sat in my camera for a few months until i got around to posting them. The kit sounds great, it's such a huge improvement over my old Tama Swingstar for the sound and also the hardware, Mapex makes really sturdy stuff. I just picked up a 10" pdp timbale that I swap out with my 8" tom when my band plays certain reggae numbers. I'll get some pictures up when I get a chance (maybe in a few months lol).
