The finish looks really good. The toms are probably suffering seperation anxiety tho, so put them together.

-And most importantly welcome to Drummerworld!!

Nice looking overall, and I'm sure you will hear it more than once that your rack toms seem very far apart. Maybe raise them up a tad and swing them together..but if it works for you it works for me. Would make your multi-drum fills much easier.

Very nice set, stunning finish!

Your rack toms are smaller, so it is understandable they would be farther apart.

I like smaller toms. They're out of fashion these days, with a 12-incher considered small and dual 18- and 20-inch floor toms considered average, but smaller drums have more pop and articulation.

Sorry deathmetalconga but it is not understandable that his toms are that far apart because they are small. Small toms are no excuse to set your drums up like they came out of a Sears catalogue. Anyways...that may have been a little harsh.

I love the look and finish of the drums. It seems that exports have come a long way in terms of quality and color choices. I have a set myself from the mid 90's. They do the job but I definitely need an upgrade. The new one's are so much nicer. Personally, I would love to get a Master's series setup.

Back to the toms. I have to agree, raise up the arms from where they come out of the bass drum and adjust the elbows so they are pointed down (not up). I believe you will find it much better to play. Plus you won't have people like me telling you that you need to change them. Take care.

Hiya, Welcome to DW and welcome to the club of export players.. LOL also welcome to the Cobalt Fade club... Happens to be what I play, And the color is what I also have. I did add a 16" floor tom and an 8" rack tom. And my rebuilt old pearl Steel snare...

Great looking kit.... And hey if that setup works for ya. By all means dont change it.. Since I have the 8" I have the toms all close together. But that works for me...

Mike!

post a picture of your new set-up, and keep playing around with different set-ups, it's all about you feeling comfortable behind your kit, so keep experimenting..

Something I learned the hard way and I am sure you already know it. It's your drum set, you play it and you set it how you want it. I play a very weird set up. Most drummers that set behind my kit say the same thing, "how do you play this thing". It is comfortable as hell to me and if I say so myself I play it pretty well. I do like the color on those drums.

What? Aha! Sorry, that doesn't make too much sense to me. What does his tom angles have to do with a Sears catalog? Hah! That did remind me of my guitarist's first electric guitar though. His dad bought it from Sears I think. It kind of sounded like mud and with the amp he was using he got horrible feedback. It was so bad he just stopped fighting it and learned to sculpt it. Man it was beautiful.

P.S. I like the new setup Stocky.

Welcome to the forum. The setup is definitely looking better now. You'll find that we try to help on here as much as we can with setups and such, but it's good you have someone else there who can help you out firsthand. We may see a set, but the drummer behind the set plays a big factor too when it comes to comfort. Things such as height, mass, physical ability, etc. are all going to play a part in how you set stuff up. Myself, I'm built like a toothpick, so when someone larger plays my set, they normally have to move some stuff around, haha.

Liking the set. I also owned an export at one point. Though they're not the greatest sets by any means, they do serve their purpose quite well. Have to say that I love my Sonors just a little more though, haha ;) . Keep on jammin'!

Moe
