Default New Bosphorus Hi-hats and New Arrangement

I just got a pair of 12" Reg/Dark Bosphorus Turk Hi-hats from Cymbals Only. I got rid of the china because while it is an awesome cymbal, the best china I've played in fact, it doesn't really fit into my style much and I've wanted a second pair of hi-hats longer. Since I couldn't justify spending the $$ on more cymbals, I had to get rid of the china to break even.

Anyway, here are some pics of the hats with my new arrangement. I have the hi-hats on a Yamaha Cymbal Holder, which I talked about in a few other threads.

Just again, the rest of the setup is...

Drums:

Gretsch Renown in Cherry Burst

7x8 Tom
8x10 Tom
9x12 Tom (on left off hi-hat. The gretsch tom holder fits perfectly on my hi-hat stand)
12x14 Tom
18x22 Bass
5.5x14 Snare

Heads:

All Evans

Bass: Clear EQ1 w/ hole on resonant. Clear EQ2 on batter. Both EQ rings are removed and I installed an Evans EQ pad touching the bottom of the batter head.

Toms: Clear G1's on resonant. Coated G1's on batter.

Snare: Clear Hazy 300 on resonant. Coated HD (or HD Dry, I forget) on batter.

Cymbals:

Bosphorus Turkish Series

(left to right)

14" Light/Crisp Hi-hat
19" Thin Ride (mainly used as a crash)
9" Splash
20" Medium Ride
12" Reg/Dark Hi-hat
17" Medium-Thin Crash

Misc:

LP Timbale Cowbell

Hardware:

Yamaha 700 Series Cymbal/Snare stands. Pearl H-1000K Hi-hat stand & 2000-C Eliminator Strap Drive Bass Pedal.

I am very envious. I know the kit sounds amazing and those cymbals have to sound good as good as they look. Lucky you!

So your hats finally arrived. And let me say that they are beautiful, as beautiful as all the other cymbals on your kit! They really look like painted, can`t imagine that I`ll get a (Istanbul) Turk Hi-Hat soon, too. So nice, so nice...

I am a very envious man Rob. Truly stunning drums and cymbals on ALL accounts. Just wow, I just hope you can stick with this arrangement. It's really something special.

Sometime soon. I haven't played a whole lot since having surgery on my hands and all the crap that comes with that, so I truely suck right now :)

MFB - Yeah I think I'm going to keep this arrangement. It's very comfortable and eventually I learn how to utilize everything tastefully *lol*

Very nice indeed. I'm going to guess you play jazz?, purely because of those turks. Nice symmetrical feel going on there too.

Alittle but I'm really bad at it. I play mostly funk, light rock, some latin stuff..

Outstanding set!! Those cymbals look just beautiful. Sorry to say I'm not familiar with the Bosphorus sound but I'll fix that soon as I can. Best of luck on your surgery recovery.

Insane drum porn. I swear, if I ever find out where you live I'm going to steal those cymbals! I am waiting and hoarding coin for my own set of Bosphoruses.

Great symmetrical setup and I like the suspended floor toms.

Thanks everyone :)

Geek_Boy. I paid:

$1188 shipped for everything except the 12" Hi-hats. That breaks down to:

9" Splash - $106
14" Light/Crisp Hi-hat - $321
17" Medium-Thin Crash - $225
19" Thin Ride - $260
20" Medium Ride - $276

The 12" Reg/Dark Hi-hats were $297, but like I said I got rid of my china (can't say in what way), but it works out to I only paid $15 for shipping and eventual difference in price from what I paid for my 20" Thin China.

CymbalsOnly.com has samples for the time being. Anything I record won't do them justice on my camera.

I posted sounds for everything but the 12" hats here http://drummerworld.com/forums/showp...69&postcount=1

and then the 12" hat samples are here:

Well actually this is old. I setup with a basic 4 piece now (link in my sig). I just bumped this thread back up to let people know I was selling the 12" Turk Hi-hats. The larger set is great but just overkill for what I play.
