Default Steve Gadd Signature sticks

I am officially in love.

Firstly, I've never tried barrel tips.... i've always loved round..

But I got me a pair of these knockers today... and oh my gosh! I'm totally in love!! The feel! THe sound!

Hmm... thing is.. I've been on the Firth Webbie.. and not much detail I see, or maybe I'm just blind... but woodtype? Approx weight? I think it's in the 7A region or something... but is there an actualy code for it or something I dunno.

Anyone else use these sticks and love em?

I love them too. They are very light and short.

The older models with black tips marked all heads in black....but now there are natural color tips.

Yep, great sticks. I've been using them for a little over a year. They do tend to get a little slippery once your hands get wet.

I own 10 pairs of these sticks. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about them just feels no natural in my hands. I think they're great for playing all styles of music, and are by far the most comfortable pair of sticks I've ever played with.

Great sticks. Its like magic how light they are. But i dont like the fact that they break kinda easily. Also, within a couple weeks, parts of the tip started to dull making a dead sound and unbouncy feel.

I guess i just need new ones :D

Exactly. They're very comparable to his playing. They're both perfect in a very special way, a way a can't quite put my finger on.

I love the feel, but I can't stand getting the black all over my cymbals and heads.....I play with the weckl's instead...They have a similar feel, but are not the same.

I well remember how my lovely white ambassadors would get black marks all over them. :-)
I haven't used these sticks in many years, but when I did I just loved them. In fact I checked them out again the other day and was surprised to see the new natural tips. I might have to buy another pair next week. They are nice for practicing subtle press rolls on the pad when I watch TV. I normally use 7a's for that.

i like the gadds a lot -- one of my favorite sticks. The length is just ideal and completely unique to his sticks. I use the nylon tips as i felt the wood tips broke too quick.

I can deal with black marks on my heads, but I never picked up a pair because I was afraid of them leaving marks on my cymbals. Do they do that?

I tried the Eric Carr 2B's from Regal Tip once, and even though they look really cool, never again will I use a painted stick on my kit. It left big white screaks on my crash and it was a pain to polish off!!!

I feel you brother. they mark up your gear and it pisses me off. i cant stand little black scuff marks on everything.

I love the Gadd Stick except for the length. I wish they could make it 16" in length.
Other than that, I love it.

I never used to like them because they broke very easily, but that's because I used them fer Hard Rock, so go figure. Now that I am playing Jazz and other lighter stuff, I now appreciate them much more.

At the Gadd clinic I recently went to, someone asked him whose idea it was to change the tips from black to natural. Steve was very forthcoming in saying it wasn't him, and rather it was Vic Firth after getting feedback about the marks the sticks left.

But here's the funny part: along with saying it wasn't him, he also went on to remark that it definitely wasn't him because he didn't notice the marking up of his equipment, hinting at his state of mind back then. Now, for those of you who know his history, specifically back in the early/mid 80s when the change from black to natural tip was made, you'd find this awfully funny, and a good portion of the crowd erupted into laughter. So kudos to Gadd for being candid (in a subtle way) about his past!

Oh, and I like these sticks too, although they're not my absolute favorites.
