Default The new snare in good company...

So my buddy Francois that built my new stave snare had to tease me a little... As if the snare isn't drool worthy enough he had to tease me by taking a picture of it next to his Ayottes. The funny thing is that his Ayottes are pretty much twins for my Taye Studio Maple kit.

She's in the mail now and headed this way... Can not wait to set it up with my kit. I've also got some maple hoops being made for it as well. =)

That snare looks awesome really nice finish. What is it like a 14x8?

13x7 actually.. but close! I wanted something a bit different. Right now my snares are all pretty much 14x6's (with one 6.5" deep one I built) and the one I'm finishing right now is a 13x5 so this gave me the deep 13 if I want it. Plus it's a 1/2" thick since it's not a ply drum. She's gonna be LOUD.

We hadn't planned on the fade originally but he tried it out and it looks awesome on the birdseye.

Man that is tempting. I'm saving my pennies for a 14 x 8.

Careful... the Musashi might feel left out if you get one like this! lol Oak ain't got nothing on a shell 1/2" thick. (Unless of course you build an oak stave.. which will pretty much make your ears bleed)

Wow, nice looking snare. Stave construction is great!

There was a thread a while back where someone made snares out of sections of cast iron pipe and they weighed 40 pounds. I gotta get me one of those!

Oh I'm sure that could be arranged... lol I've made friends with a metal supplier so I'm working on some ideas.

13x7.... heheh that would be perfect for me, I can get my little legs around it and it has a nice deep sound I would like. That finish is beautiful, bit of a sunset feel to it, so I think the wooden maple hoops will suit it. You're one lucky man.

Yea... I still gotta make good on that video bit I promised of the Taye's. Guess I'll figure out how to hook up the firewire to my room mate's camera. With the whole getting married thing I can't justify going out and buying one of my own... (Says the guy with the nice new snare drum... shhhhh)
