Default Favorite "Live" Album

I know that there may have been a thread on this at one time, but I figured I'd start a new one. What is your favorite "Live" album?

Before I get into mine, I have to let you guys know something. I'm not a big fan of live albums at all. I could care less for most of them because I would much rather hear the studio version of the song, unless the live version stands out...if you know what i mean...?

Rush - Exit Stage Left
The Trees into Xanadu
Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same
The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song, No Quarter
Yes - Yessongs
The debut of Mr. Alan White on this one.
Kiss - Alive 3
I saw them on the "Revenge" tour and listening to this just reminds me of my ears ringing for four days straight!
Grand Funk - Live Album
Mark, Don & Mel...an album full of rock

I love Bonham's playing live when he incorporates the tympani's and gong into the songs his playing was always killer live he didn't. have to hold back on anything.I was always in favor of Kiss "Alive" that was the first album I ever got. back in 1976 when I was 6 .I like listening to studio cuts but I love when a band sounds just like the album live.

keep swatting,

Led Zeppelin- How The West Was Won, I recommend any fan at all of Zeppelin to pick this up, I also recommend every drummer to at least listen to the Moby Dick.

The Who- Live at Leeds, CLASSIC!

Any Hendrix live album if you're a fan of amazing onstage jams..

Foghat- Live!, plain and simple: it's just fun music

1.) Rush - Exit...Stage Left
2.) Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo
3.) Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive
4.) Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same

There's more, but this'll do for now...Play On! ;-)

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis. Its a live recording of the entire album on the box set. The first time I heard it, it floored me, and I've been in love with it since. I generally like Phil Collins' drumming, and some of his stuff from this album really amazes me.

I also like Exit... Stage Left by Rush, Yessongs by Yes, Live at Royal Albert Hall by Cream, and Live at Leeds by The Who.

I would much rather hear a live version cause good bands improvise. (i.e. normal guitar solos are stretched longer, songs are done faster, drum wise the fills are most of the time different, and so on.) For a live song, you get to hear the true talent of the band and not a touched up studio recording.

Led Zeppelin "How the West Was Won"
Rage Against the Machine "Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium"
RHCP "Live at Slane Castle" (DVD)
Led Zeppelin "BBC Sessions"

I have this one. I love the beginning of "So Lonely" (on the first disc) when Sting says, "I feel so...I feel so lonely". You hear Stewart Copeland say into his mic, "I'm not surprised", and
then they go into the song. Classic!

really if you havn't heard this with Pino Paladini and Steve Jordan, you are missing out. Dont be tainted by previous views of Mr. Mayer. He is an awesome electric guitar player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjf36Rg5w6Q

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live at the Quick

The live version of Big Country is one of the coolest instrumentals I have heard.

RUSH - Live in Rio (same as the DVD I believe)

The energy on this disc from the band, and the crowd, pushes the music to a whole new level.

I really don't like live albums, all the whooping an hollering and no sight of the audience...can't really see the point. Love live DVD's though and I'm lucky enough to have a monster home cinema set-up with a huge projected image and 600w of sound. Good job our house is detached!

For the musicianship, entertainment and good listening mine would be:

Rush - Live in Rio
Carl Santana - Supernatural Live
Eagles - Hell freezes over
Walter Trout and the Radicals - Relentless
Simply Red - Live in London
ELO - Zoom Tour Live
Uriah Heep - Gypsy

Possibly an eclectic mix but for me good music is good music!

genesis archives disc 1 and 2 (live lamb) are fabulous aswell as three sides live and the we can't dance tour dvd.

I also love the Imaginairy Day live dvd from Pat Metheny. Awesome performance, though pretty simple and straight forward in stage concept.

Growing up live from Peter Gabriel is also a highlight for me...

Marbles on the Road from Marillion is alwesome too !
