Default IC's Power Glide or Rolling Glide??

I just looked at my receipt for my Iron Cobra which I don't have yet, and I noticed it's a power glide. A lot of the threads here say the Rolling Glide is better and feels more natural. Should I open it and start playing, or should I return it and get the double?

It depends on your personal taste and playing style. If you like hard heavy metal power drumming then you will probably not be disappointed with the power glide but if you like jazz or anything that requires really delicate/light footwork then the rolling glide might be a better bet.

It seems that the power glide is much easier to find in the stores than the rolling glide. Not sure if this is an inaccurate observation or if Tama is trying to market to a specific audience but that's just been what I have noticed. The few occasion when I was able to sample both in the same sitting I felt that the rolling glide was great for finesse while the power glide was for just that, power.

I ended up custom ordering the rolling glide because I felt that it had a smoother response across the whole range of motion and I have not been disappointed with it.

Nothing wrong one way or the other but ideally you should test drive the two side by side since your tastes will likely differ from anyone else's.

One thing to note is that when I got mine there was a minor squeek in the remote pedal. A little lube oil and it worked itself out

I actually wanted the rolling glide but got the flexi guide and really enjoy it a lot. It makes a nice punch when wanting to accent and once you get a hang of it makes it easy to walk with

IC,
Did you get your pedals?
I just picked up a set ot Iron Cobra Power Glide and replaced my DW 7002 set, man what a great set , feels great right out of the box minimal adjusting for me.
Hope you have the same experience.

Speaking of adjustments, how do you configurate your pedals? I have brought the footboard up and then placed the beaters closer. Tension is mid strong. What's the fastest config?

The spring tension feels great, did not adjust it , I found I had better feel and balance by moving the beater weight halfway up then down about 1/2 inch.
The beaters are about 6 inches from the head at rest position.
I get much better speed and control than with the DW 7002.
Still playing with it though.

put the spring tention to the lowest setting until you get used to the iron cobra feel, it feels a lot better on low

You know, I could not find a Rolling Glide or Flex Glide at Guitar Center, but I am really pleased with the Power Glide, Much better than the DW 7002 that I was using.
The spring tension looks like it is mid way, I will lower it and try that Thank you.

Its hard to find anything you really "want" at GC, unless it happens to fit in their box.

I just bought a pair of Power Glide souble pedals tonight(replaced my DW5002) I played them against the flexi and the rolling glide and really like the feel of the Power Glides. Man do those things punch and they feel great too. I also played them against the Yamaha Flying Dragon Direct Drive double pedals and far prefered the feel of the Iron Cobras. To answer your initial question....I think you will like the feel of the Power Glides.

I was practicing with my new pedals last night , no shoes or socks, and was really enjoying the new Iron Cobras UNTIL the beater bounched back and hit the top of my foot
OUCH!!!! the back of these beaters are rock hard, Has this happened to anyone else?
Felt like someone took a hammer to the top of my foot, I think I may have to adjust the distance from the Head and Spring tension:(

Actually,
It is at the factory setting, I think mid-way but the tension feels good until it hits the top of your foot. I guess I should check that?

unless your going SUPER FAST then put it to the lowest settings......you can still go really fast but without having it fling back as quick...plus its more accurate
