those are some sweet looking kits.
I use the same sonor 5 piece for my drum lessons. Its funny how my local music store uses their most expensive kit for lessons. they know no one will buy it from them.

Beautiful kits! I really want a set of designers (or the new SQ2), but I'll have to wait for the right deal to come along. I do have a set of delites and they are excellent drums. My kits are in my sig if you want to check them out.

I'm from NC as well.... where in NC are you located?

Thanks for the complements! I was a little hesitant posting pics of my gear, but I figured why not most of folks in have. I live in Asheville, NC. Love your Yamahas and your Delites. I love the Black/Silver Sparkle. I would ask you which kit you like better but thats kind of like asking which one of your two kids you loves more. I imagine each kits has its own sound.
The Designers are pretty incredible. I put an EMAD2 on the 18x16 just to experiment and all I can say is WOW! That little 18x16 sounds better than most companies 20" Kicks set-up for rock. I am thinking about keeping it my primary kit because it sounds so amazing. I think that I will eventually put in an internal mic system. Although right now it would sound great with just the reso mic'ed. Anyway, I am glad everyone is enjoying the pics. The Delites were given to me as a gift from my wife as a gigging kit so I wouldn't have to take out the Designers. I am amazed how great they sound. Upper line Sonors definitely have their own sound. I think that is why anyone who has ever played them normally ends up owning one.

Asheville really? You gotta come down to Charlotte and check out my two snares I'm building. Nice veneer on that kit. Once I finish these two snare drums my next one is going to be solid bubinga. =)

Wow nice. My favorite is the Designer Jazz Setup.

Don't worry about being a poser. Sometimes I feel like I'm the biggest one here :)

Well maybe those of us that feel that way can have Bernhard change the title under our screen names to POSER. I'm all for it.

Cool. I live about 4 hours away, just outside of Chapel Hill. NC seems to be pretty well represented on this board! Thanks for the compliments on my kits. I have major GAS (gear aquisition syndrome). If I find a good deal, I find ways to make it happen. I've bought and sold more gear than I care to admit!
Yeah, the Yamaha is a great kit as well. I would say the delites have more of their own sound (deep and resonant) while the Yammies have more of a generic sound. I'm not saying that in a bad way as I love the sound of the yammies, but the delites (and sonor in general) just have "that sound". I'm betting that the designers have even more of "that sound" than the delites! But, you are right... I love both kits.... just like having 2 children!
By the way, I'm not sure if you venture on this site or not, but for anyone who loves Sonor, this is the place:
http://www.logsdon.biz/cgi-bin/forum.../ikonboard.cgi

Lots of nice new and vintage discussions over there!

Take care.

I like the K/Z Combo hats because you can change up what kind of sound you want. If you want wash you have but you still get a great "Chick" sound. The ride is great, very cutting. I thinking of getting something with a little more stick definition like a K Custom Dry Cymbals.

I have to agree about the sound of Delites, they definitely have their own sound. The Designers are in a league of their own. The only way I can explain it, is to take all of the best qualities of the Delites and add a couple pounds to each drum(they are heavy). Also the fit, finish and quality are impeccable. I have never looked at that site but I will check it out. Thanks !

Designers will be going the way of the Dodo, but I suppose you will be able to pick them up easily on the used-vintage market for years to come.

SQ2 will be your only option for truly custon Sonor drums shortly.

I have Designers and wouldn't sell or trade them away for the world.

The Bububga kit looks great, and I'll bet it is a blast to "pose" behind. ;)
