Default look what i made........

Hey DW,

Recently I've noticed alot of hand made accesories for drums showin' up on the forum.
so I figured post a picture of the little cymbal stacker I made, actually made a few , 2 out of brass and 2 out of aluminum. It works quite well, I was thinking about marketing it for drummers ,so they could have a cymbal stacker for cheap, like $5 bucks. I can make them in defferent sizes like 2", 4" or 6". It also can convert two 10" cymbals into a mini hi-hat on a cymbal stand. check it out let me know if you'd buy one.

Neat!

How did you make that? Do you have a metal lathe? The photos are blurry, but it looks very finely machined. Most of my stuff is much cruder in appearance.

I've seen mini-stackers like that before. The main problem I've had with these mini stackers, however, is the lack of an offset. See some offset stackers I made at http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=23501 to see what I mean. The ones with an offset are way too big.

Well done! Honestly I`ve never seen such a tool before. haha, is it just avilable in other countries? What`s the official name for it?

Looks like a very nice stacker actually, useful if you don`t wanna buy expencive clamps or stands.

Haha, I tried to stack my little 8" Splash on my hats stand, but the rod is too small. That's so cool that you've already presented a solution to my problem.

Nope, I wouldn't buy one...

I'D BUY 3 or 5!!!

OF EACH SIZE!!!!

In fact, why don't you toddle off to the shop and rip me out some brass ones right now!! LOL

Seriously, Get it patented and put into mass production ASAP. I'd love a few. IMHO $5.00 is too cheap (but I'd gladly pay that). Put them in packs of two and sell them for $19.95!! Brass for $29.95. I don't think thats being greedy, just realistic for your time, trouble, and materials.

You have a nice item there!

Hey, thanx for the vote of confidance guys.

yeah I would like to market this little puppy.

really my favorite thing about is, using it as a mini hi-hat holder, it holds 2 10" or 2 12" cymbals together perfectly.

hey pm me with your addresses and i'll send some out to you guys. but it'll take some time, and you'll have to pay the shipping! he-he ; )

Ok now that aux. hat holder is fantastic. Why buy a whole other hi hat stand for those aux hats when you can convert with your own stand, or spend less on a straight cymbal stand then convert! Now thats pretty awesome.

Hey tb!! EXCELLENT invention, buddy!! That's what I like to see! A drummer who customizes a piece of gear, and shares it with us hear on DW!! I may use this type of hardware attachment someday! Don't really need anything like this right now, but this is VERY impressive, none-the-less! Thanks So Much, timebandit...Play On! ;-)

Nice. I especially like the way you mounted the hats. It may be worth filing a patent on this:

I've been thinking about it for awhile now, but i'm also guessing the "idea" of a cymbal stacker already has a paten on it. Thats the part , I think, ends up costing ya money you never get back if you never persue the marketing. I't definately, simple yet effective compared to the stackers posted below. They also were about $30 bucks apiece. 400 th post!

I've never been into stacking cymbals, but that is a cool little device you have come up with. It looks well-made, sleek and professionally done.

You would definitely have to get a patent attorney to research it and see if it infringes on a previously patented design, but if it does not, I'll bet you could sell a bunch of them.

Nice work!

I hate to say it, and maybe I'm missing something, but I think these are pretty common...you can get them for about 10 bucks on Musician's Friend. Maybe I'm missing the difference, though.

i just did a quick search and found no patent for a stacker like yours

keep in mind that there are over 900 different bass drum pedal patents http://www.google.com/patents?q=bass...ell=1&oi=spell

it's worth a try.

If you can't afford to defend a patent there's no point spending money to get one. I doubt that you can patent it but it's still always nice to see people doing their own thing. You're one step away from making your own lugs... =)
