Hey, looks good! Prefer the white finish though...but that is personal prference. Overall a very valuable kit, nice!

What Ride cymbal do you play? Looks like a K Constantinople Ride...a high def.?

Nice! I play a similar set up ( smaller toms, but bigger bass), but I am very interested in a 18'' bass. How does it sound? Great, or good?
What's up with that crash waaay up there? When I play jazz ( I guess you do) I have my crash like tree inches above my tom. But I guess
that is a personal preferece... Love em to death!

P.S.
Second the snare q. What snare is it, and SPECS please

I've got that same kit (same sizes, same finish, same hardware), and I think it's great. I ended up switching to a more normal setup just because the band I'm playing with really called for a more "standard" beefy bass drum sound, but the Catalina club had a ton of character and a really interesting sound. It easily held its own volume wise with the two guitars and bass as well. It just didn't fill out the bottom end the way I felt the music really needed to be its best. For modern jazz, or a more laid back rock, funk or r&b group than ours, it could definitely be a GREAT choice to get a unique "signature" sound, and I'm not just saying that because I'm putting mine on the market soon!

The snare drum that comes with it is a great sounding basic stock snare BTW.

I have the wmp kit with the seperate lugs. Did you buy that used, or are they still making the the ones with the long lugs? My 18" kick sounds as big as a 22" I use to own, but it's much lighter and easier to move. The one thing I find getting a bit use to is having the kick on a riser, it positions the beater fine, but the pedal is about 1/2 " further back than without the riser. Nice kit.

Great looking kit, cool retro finish. Gotta love a Gretsch jazz kit.

i've bought this kit from another french drummer , and it's an old version ...

cymbals are kdark crash thin 16"
k constinople bigband ride 21"
and agop hi hat 14" bottom flat

the snare is a starclassic performer

the bass drum is really perfect, easy to tune, the 12" tom is very good, but the 14"tom is very difficult to tune, and i need to spend some time on it ...

Nice kit, I wanted to get one of these babies, but I figured it would be wiser to save up for something better,

I love mine. I just bought it for practices and small clubs so I don't have to lug a bunch of stuff around. But I have got the the most compliments out of this drum set out of any I have ever owned. People love it. Sound guys and other drummer love it too. They like the snare sound (stock) and bass sound I got. I bought mine brand new from the G.C. My only complaints are the 5 lugs on the 12 inch tom instead of 6 and the bearing edges. Once I have them recut this baby will be a gem. Beautiful set and cymbals dude.

What wrong with five lugs? I believe Gretsch has been doing that for years, it's part of "that great Gretsch sound". What was wrong with the bearing edges? I don't see any flaws in mine, bought it at G.C. as well.

Cool, I originally tried the combination of Fiberskyns, with the original resonants on the bass and both toms, and it sounded terrific, I swithced to Evans EMAD and EC2s to use it with our funk/rock/blues band. Now that I have another set for that stuff, I may go back to single ply unmuffled all around and keep the Gretsch for special occasions.
