Default I recently bought an acrolite (pic, video and sound included)

I just wanted to share my acrolite I just got of ebay for $81 (shipping included). I still have the heads on it that cam with it. The guy who sold it to me must have got it from a middle school based on the writing on the batter side. "I love you brandee.." stuff like that. hehe.

I had some fun the other night tuning it and recording my kit. So below are are pics, sound samples and video with multi tracked drum audio.

All the drum sounds are dry. NO EQ, VERB or COMPRESSION.

The only thing so far that in not happy about in the kick drum and i'm pretty sure it has to do with the emad heads. To my ears it has a tentendcy to cause some irregular frq bulge around 90-120hz and ive tried several tuning combinations on the reso and batter side I think i should go old with some sort of coated head..PS3 coated beater/ambassador coated front?? what do you think??. oh well.

By the way, im a noob drummer of 1 year so please don't bash me.

That looks like one of the newer ones. What kind of paint is over the shell? I GIS'd the new ones w/ the black and white badge and it looks speckled. That thing is really dry. I'd try cranking it up and see what kind of crack you can get. Not bad for 80 bucks!!

its galaxy black. it has little sparkles. The snare has the muffler engaged so it dampened ring but i still tried not to choke it.

(insert best "GODLIKE" voice here!) *****LET THE ACROLITE SING!!! :)

I have an original from 1966, and she's a beauty! It has a regular old Evans Genera single ply coated head on it, sounds great.

Turn OFF the muffler...try it with just the "moongel". Then try it "naked" ....try it all ways. Also...try moving the moongel around a bit too .....

That snare should ROCK!! I love Acrolites!

Is that a white and black bagde on it? I can't quite make it out because of the angle the snare is shown. I thought Acrolite snare were made from aluminum? Mine has the olive badge.
The reason why I asked is because the white and black badge was the "Rocker series"
Just wondering.

Its aluminum. An olive badge just means its older. Newer galaxy acrolites have black and white badges.

does anyone have any suggestions for techinique?

drum tuning in general on the whole kit?

how's the recording in general on the drummics.mp3? I mean its unmixed. i figured posting raw clips of the kit is better then adding eq, verb and compression for a better representation of how the kit sounds.

Mics used:

kick: audix D6 (mic body just inside the reso hole)
snare: Shure sm57
rack tom: Audix D2
floor tom: Audix D2
Overheads: Rode nt5s
