Default My Pearl "Prestige Session Select Series" kit

Has a great sound with the right heads. I have had musicians and a recording engineer remark on how good this kit sounds. I have replaced the original 12" tom with a 10" tom. So I have something between a rock and a fusion kit. The 10" is only export series quality and doesn't have the clear color but it's hard to pick it under lights.

Nice. I love it. Never heard of Prestige Session Slect, but it looks pretty cool.
Speaking of the right heads, I need to get some.
How do you like the Sound Formulas? I saw a 16" crash for cheap on eBay.

I have this kit in the same finish but in fusion sizes, it treats me very well. Nice cymbal choice too.

About what year are these drums from? early 90's? also,is that tape on your floor tom head? (probably so your damp/ring does not vibrate)

Hi, thanks for your response. I'm fairly new to forums so I'm happy you took the time to post a reply. The Session Select series , in its day, was only one series below the Masters Custom. The Sound Formulas are now discontinue but are similar to the Signature series. My splash and 16" crash are Signature sereis cymbals and they fit in beautifully with the Sound Formulas. They are not your heavy rock cymbals, like Zildjian, but are nice and bright . Don Henley ( The Eagles) used them for years, so that gives you an idea of what sound you will get. Definately worth the money, The ride is just Ssssensational with a great bell sound as well. Thanks again I'll be sure to look up your postings as well.

Hi , Thanks for taking the time to comment on my kit. A sunburst color scheme always looks very nice on any kit. Do you have pictures of your current kit on the site, I'd like to see what you upgraded to.

Hi, Thanks for commenting on my kit. I couldn't afford to change its again (the wife, you know) to a fusion size which is why I just added the 10"tom. Playing disco music and other dance type music I found I needed the sound of the 10" tom , I do like the 22' kit however and for the bigger gigs I have it mic'd to a desk that has a 18" subwoofer, powered by a 800watt peavey amp , hanging of it. It sounds really good and it gives the younger ones a bit of doof doof which they like.

Hi , And thanks for the reply. Yeah, your probably right about being around in the ealy 90's . Their discontinued now and I think to get a replacement the insurance company is probably looking at a SRX kit or similar. Your right about the tape although now I use only about a one third ring. Its just knocks the ring without killing the sound. I don' t need to use powerstroke heads on this kit , which I used on cheaper kits, to get a good sound. I do use a powerstroke on the snare , which is a pearl brass free floater.
