Thanks:)
hmmm The overall sound is amazing. The maple gives it a warm sound and the walnut kinda gives it a little edge or a personality. I cant really compare the kit, cause until now I've been playing an electronic drumset and pearl export kits (the heads are old and tuned lousy) but I will get back to you on that one;)

Great looking kit. Congratulations. The finish looks super. What's that ride you are playing? Looks like an A Custom, but I can't tell.

sexy dude. personally I don't like to have a crash directly in front of me, but it really is more of an aesthetic annoyance rather than a practical inconvenience (as it would be very handy!). that finish is super sweet (mango is a sweet fruit right?), I thought a long time about getting some saturns, but didn't end up getting them. i'm sure they sound very unique, you definitely will get your own sound out of those!

Thanks for the comments:)

It's a 22" A custom ride.. So you're right:)

Do you mean the K Crash? It's not right in front of me actually, might look like that in the pictures or do you mean the splash?

Jupp it was a magic feeling to unwrap these babies. and to play them for the first time.. Everything around me just disappeard.

The clinic was awsome. His skills just blew me away. And he had some really cool ideas of how to play normal rudiments but in different ways. And he played some songs from the Dog Boots album and his opening solo was 25 min long.

Specs.
Mapex Saturn in Mango Burst:
22x18
10x8
12x9
14x11
16x13
14x6,5

Cymbals:
Paiste: 2002 14" sound edge hi hats
Zildjian:
20" K heavy ride
15" K custom dark crash
8" and 12" A custom splashes
18" A custom crash
18" K custom fast crash
18" A custom fast crash
22" A custom ride
18" K china boy
12" Bottom special recording hat.( I sometimes use it as a hi hat with the 12" splash)

But you just gotta see the finish eye to drum. The pictures dont show how beatiful it really is. Bad photo light down there.

That's a Janus Ergo pedal. It's a nice pedal with many adjustments choices. I dont think it's the perfect pedal for me, I want a more responsive pedal. So I'm planning on buying a Dw 9000..

Mapex makes three products that rival the best in thier respective ranges:

Pro-M: Intermediate kit with real North American Maple

Saturn: Quality walnut and maple. High end kit at an intermediate price

Orion: Awesome finish, sometimes on sale for hundreds less than Pearl masters or Tama sc.

Is Mapex the best it could be? No. I wish it would adopt a Pearl, Yamaha or new hardware system.

As far as sound/performance and finishes: they have it down pat.

Sweet kit man. Very nice finish.

I too can imagine how awesome it must have been to unpack that kit and set it up. Very nice indeed.
