Default New pics of my kit! (6-pc. & 4-pc.)

Hey all, I played a big band concert, a recording session and a quartet gig over the weekend, so I took some pics of all three. Enjoy!

I'll be posting some audio from the concert and the session soon.

Your 4pc is definitely one of my new favorite setups. Not only do you have a beautiful finish with WOOD HOOPS on your snare (yeah, i'm a wee bit jealous) but you have some amazing cymbals.. although, you eventually should part with the 'cookie-cutter' Ks and move on to some nice Bos hats. :P

Props, dude!

I've been looking into muffling my bass drum with foam like that. Are you satisfied with the sound of it?

Oh no - the guys at the factory seem to have forgotten to lathe your cymbals. Quick, post them to me and I'll sort them out for you... honest...

Every time I see your kit, I get back into the old "gotta build my own kit" mindset. The Bos collection is great too but I agree with Kung Foo; a pair of Bos hats (I recommend medium traditionals; I love mine) would really complete the picture. And which model chinese is that?

Nice kits "KCDrummer". Are those the ones you've built?
Great job.

Cheers.

I love the green stain. Nice kick mic. I like to put mine in just about the same spot. Gives a great boomy sound right there.

Whoa thats a beautiful finish, absolutly stunning, and with the lugs too...That finish reminds of the kit of the month in the July MD, that also had a beautiful green finish. What kit is it, have you refinished it or is that the original finish? Or did you build it? Amazing kit.

Thanks everyone! OK, answers to everyone's questions:

Yes, this is the kit I built four years ago.

DrumProgressive, the picture might be playing an optical trick on you, the hats are a good three inches above the snare.

D.C., the specs are: 18 X 22 8-ply bass drum, 16 X 18 6-ply bass drum, 5.5 X 14 10-ply snare, 8 X 10, 9 X 12, 11 X 13 and 14 X 15 6-ply toms.

Kung f00 and Ozzy Biz, I do want some Bos hats, but those K's are actually really sweet. I wouldn't give them up even if I got Bos, they're the most versatile hats I've ever played. The China is a 20" Traditional series with six rivets.

TPLC, I love how the bass drum sounds with this head set-up. I don't call it the BIG DAWG for nothing! It barks.

Now, I have a confession to make. Not all those Bos cymbals are mine. I know, I know, I'll probably have to remove myself from the forum in shame. The Turk is mine and I also have a 22" Master's Series flat ride that's not pictured, but the china and the New Orleans are my roommate's. I hope you won't think less of me.

And in case anyone's wondering, that suit is Italian, I got it in Rome last summer. ;)

Yup, the lugs are brass too, although I've seen some Yamaha drumsets (maple customs) with chrome rims and brass lugs and they actually looked pretty good.

And Ytsejammer, I will defend my drums like a farmer defends his daughter! Mine is the only touch they will ever know, I will not allow them to be defiled by another! Unless you want to give me five minutes with your drums, then maybe we can work out a swap.

With those bass drum hoops did u just buy wooden hoops and put the same finish on or did u do something else, cause id like to have hoops the same colour as my kit.

Yup, I used a layer of stain and three coats of semi-gloss for both the shells and the hoops.

The bass hoops I got from drummaker.com, with the rest of the shells, don't remember exactly how much they were. The snare hoops are from precisiondrum.com, they were about $160 for the pair.

Beautiful kit. You're one of my inspirations on this forum for DIY drum work. Love it. Love the suit also.

Looks really comfortable to play on. Sweet finish. I think the wooden hoop on your snare looks sweet, ive always thought wood hoops were so cool.

Sweet looking kit there. Love the cymbals too (even if they are not yours).

The finish is very nice. Very similar to my Emerald Mist finish (best finish ever!) on my Pearl Masters. Teamed with the gold, I would have to say yours looks nicer though.
