Default Cymbal Upgrade almost complete

I finally replaced my set of Sabian B8s. I have one more cymbal on the way and that will complete my setup, FOR NOW. All cymbals were purchased through eBay and I believe I saved some money total out of pocket is $577 including shipping. I know I got a good deal on the hats, only $177 and their perfect in every way. Anyway here are a couple of pictures of my (used) new cymbals:
20 K Custom Dark Ride, 16 K Custom Dark Crash, 16 and 18 Sabian Paragon Crash, 20 Sabian Paragon China and a set of Paiste Signature Series 14 medium High Hats. I have an 18 Z Custom Projection Crash arriving Monday.

Thanks, I'm enjoying the Ks immensely, they sound even better than I thought they would especially when playing with a band. I also impressed with the sound on the Paragons, I needed something to cut through the volume but I wanted to keep it musical not trashy if that makes sense. By next year I may go with all K Custom Dark cymbals, I really love the sound they produce.

Awesome, Nice cymbals and of course a gorgeous kit. I have the same one white sonor 3003. How do you like the china's? what size? I messed up and bought a 12" wuhan and I can't stand the thing. In fact I took it down it sounds so bad. Guess I gotta get a 18" or bigger. Also how do you like the BD with no hole?? I had to put one in mine because it did'nt sound deep enough now I am having a small problem with overtones.

Nhzoso,

Love the china, it a 20 and the sound is great. The bass drum is fine without the hole both in my office and at band practice. At practice it looses a bit of the boom but mellows to a nice thump. I was looking at your kit you have some great taste hehe. The suggestion I made on your post would leave your toms like mine allowing the room for the ride to be repositioned.

Wow, ur kit is a real beauty, looks like some kit setup in a showroom.

I got that 20 paragon china too and i love it exept i think the decay on it is a bit to long. Do you happen to know some ways to reduce it. Note: my local drum shop doesn't sell moongell =(.

It's a Sonor 3003 and right now the cymbals are worth more than the kit.

Thanks a lot on the kind words. Tomorrow I'm posting another picture of the kit with my second high hat mounted on the bass drum along with my new projection crash. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. I hated the 2nd hh on my right side by the floor tom but couldn't figure out how to remedy it without bothering my tom positions. Yesterday MFB posted a reply to nhzoso about possible ride cymbal positioning and low and behold as I'm reading the post I look over see the hole in my bass drum and it dawned on me like big bulb went off. I set it up and it's perfect, the strangest things can make a man happy.

I love the cymbal, It's all about personal taste, the sound is really nice, sticking is well defined and it has beautiful warm undertones. I never crash it thats just not my style but I'm sure if I wanted to pull accents out of it she would deliver loud and clear. Well worth the wait.

The more I play them the better they sound. They really cut through nice without getting trashy. To me for a pretty loud crash they seem very musical.

I've added two more crashes to my arsenal. An 18 inch Dream Bliss and a 18 Z Custom Projection, oh I also made a last minute decision to get a new set of secondary Hi Hats because I'm so happy with my new HH placement (mounted on the bass drum) which I recently did that I find myself doing more open hand stuff. This by the way is the result of a suggestion made by MFB on another thread regarding ride placement. Anyway I've been playing them hard the last few days and decided to post pics / review. The Meinls are fantastic, solid chick and well defined sticking; I may make them my primary hats. The Dream crash, well for the money its amazing, I placed it right next to my K Custom Dark ride and it sounds sweet with a nice trashy edge. The Z Custom Projection is LOUD; Ill use that for special occasions only. Anyway thanks for letting me behave like a new father showing off his pride and joy. Now did someone say Gong,,,,

dizkneelande,

The Dream crash is great, the sound is explosive and trashy. The workmanship seems to be top quality work, although I'm not a craftsman. If the Dream lasts under heavy hitting I would say it's about as good a deal on quality cymbals as you can get. If over the course of time it cracks under normal use I still say that for a $109 I had fun with it.

Yes EC2's on both sides, no real reason except I like the sound. The meinls I got off eBay, all my cymbals I got off eBay but only after listening to them live.

Dude, is that another bass drum I see in the corner. If so why don't you use it? if you don't want to use it on the floor, put it on a stand and use it like a Gong, that would be awsome on that kit!

Ok, I know the story now, I checked out your other thread, basicly... no room, I get it. Still think the gong Idea is sick!

,

That's why I love this forum, consider it my Christmas project, I'll post photos when complete, maybe by next week. heheh
My approach will be, first make room, then go for a 22 inch FT, swing the 14 inch hanging tom over to the left of my snare, create that balance between sides, Lang like, or just invest in a gong drum stand and position it by the 16 inch FT. The possibilities are endless and tis the season.
