The KLF.

And not because they're "back".

In fact I thought they had already transcended beyond our world until I saw the news the other day...

They're justified. They're ancient. They drive an ice cream truck.

I was reading The Manual again, just the other day. A lot of it still makes sense. Looking forward to their new book.

This week checking out a 70s soul drummer named Kenneth "Spider Webb" Rice-- he's on some good tracks by Grover Washington and Eddie Kendricks.

Hail the Sun. I can't tell if I like their album Wake or Culture Scars better. Listen to both and tell me what you think...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_libiCLP4iY

They are kind of Circa Survive meets The Mars Volta and the obvious comparison of Dance Gavin Dance and Fall of Troy.

As always, the ringing in my ears. But, my Brain Radio is playing My Angel Baby by Toby Beau.

(it's been stuck on that channel for over an hour now - I'm gonna change it to something by Herb Alpert, if I'm lucky!)

Percolatin' with Lucifer by Torso. It's funky electronic fusion with hints of jazz. Haven't listened to it in about three years so fun to discover it again.

All my CD's (about 2000 now) are burned into my computer as lossless wave files. I put that on "shuffle". Sometime I pick one band to "shuffle" through and right now it's Ozric Tentacle.

I can't get the Mr Crowley guitar solo out of my head. It's my favorite rock n roll guitar solo. I have it on continuous replay in my head.

Were you and I roommates in the 80's? I still have nightmares about those first two Ozzy Albums...

But then, I was beating him to death with "Gates of Delerium" from Yesshows, Night Ranger, and I think I was still in my "Joe's garage-Sheik Yerbouti" Zappa phase.

I was a Metal Head back then, we would have gotten along just fine. Ha, Night Ranger...I remember them...Sister Christian....great song, although I never figured out exactly what "motoring" is referring to.

For anyone who engineers music, listen carefully to the guitar solo in "Sister Christian". Obviously when Gillis started to play, the levels were too high, and you can hear the fader drop at one point.

And I was never a "metal head" though I like most of it OK. I just had a friend who played those first two Ozzy records (The best two IMO) to DEATH.

I am currently listening to Channel One Suite by the Buddy Rich Big Band. I still have to "play down" a little during the drum solo parts when I do it with my band, and it is at the edge of my ability as far as footwork is concerned, but I otherwise can play it note-for-note without any issue.

Various stuff. Mostly single tracks, not complete albums.

P... Groove - The sound of 70's adult films
Sorry but the music is really cool, groovy and provides various flavours.
Also great track to play along on the el. bass.

Not really drum-related but this guy Vitas has been impressing me lately.
Cool backing track for various percussion instruments.
If you are into extremely high pitch vocals check out some more videos of him ;-)
