Default 3D Printing Drum Equipment

Today I ordered a 3D item to be printed. It was a camera lens adapter. It made me think about all the mounts and clamps that could be made for the drum set.

Even a jam block: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2373823

It's kind of exciting. I guess the only real question is durability.

I totally want to upgrade some of my custom made wood mounts.

Have you thought of 3D printing one?

I knew someone that was into building 3D printers and CNC machines. I asked what he wanted to make, he said 3D printer parts.

I work with a number of businesses & specialists who utilise 3D printing technology extensively. In terms of high strength finished metal parts, it really is getting there. Not quite up to all the physical properties & surface finishes of parts machined from solid yet, but it's getting very close to all but the highest integrity cast components. It's certainly the future in terms of processing, but the material technology has a way to go yet.

All that said, the capability of metal 3D printing is already way ahead of the classic pot metal drum parts & most of the castings too.

I was thinking it would be good for making tamborim/pandeiro holder, there is already headless tambourine holder on thing inverse. I wonder what a good design for attaching to a 3/8 bar. Maybe clamp with a nut and bolt? I would use nylon as a material.

I have a 3d printer at home and the wide array of plastics you can get is vast. From simple low grade to poly infused nylon that will withstand a lot of abuse. I'll make up this jam block and see how it does.
I know it'll put up with the hits, but how it sounds will be my question.
Update to follow.

I think the plastics can even be recycled.

I think cool part is the opportunity for customization. Engravings shapes, tuning etc

I'm eyeing the bottle cap jingle hihat adapter. I've been saving my homebrew bottle caps for just such an occasion.
