Default Re: Minimalist Setup?

I think Steve Gadd had the ultimate minimalist set-up when he showed up to a session, listened to the track, and when the producer asked him what he thought, he said, “I think it sounds fine without any drums”. The producer signed the invoice and Steve left ;)

I've heard about drummers only using a pair of brushes and a pizza box.

From OldReliable: CommanderRoss, what are you running head wise on that little 16” kick? I’ve been curious as to how people get a fatter sound out of smaller kicks like yours.
Evans 360 Hydraulic. They released the EMAD head for the 16" after I put this on (of course), otherwise I'd have used that.
The Hydro combined with the small egg crate foam inside gives me the perfect subdued thump for a drum this size.
I use a Vic Firth fleece beater and have had 0 issues. It just sounds great.
