Default Re: Articles Invited from Drummers for Drum Institute in Mumbai

Hi there everybody. This is Atin Dasgupta - an aspiring drummer / entrepreneur from Mumbai, India. Been learning drums for the last 6 months and I can now safely say that I can find my way around the kit atleast :-) I also produce music for the local music industry and learning drums is my way of improving my rhythm programming skills. Along with my tutor Mr, Franco Vaz who is one of the most respected drummers in India, we have started a drum school for budding drummers in India. The link to our website can be found here - http://www.trakadoom.com/. There is a blog section on the site and I welcome all the drummers out here to contribute articles to our blog. The articles need not be very lengthy or prosaic. It could be about your personal experiences as a drummer or even informative articles, photographs or tutorials. We would be glad to insert a link to your own website or blog in return. Please email your stuff to atin.dasgupta@gmail.com

There are very few drum institutes in India and we aim to correct that with this venture. We are launching the institute in a month's time and who knows, as we grow, we could even invite some ace drummers out here as resident trainers in the future at our institute provided you are willing to leave the familiar confines of your home and venture forth to our part of the world :-)

Nice job on Wheels. I used to play in a band that did that one, & I wish would have had a transcription back then. It is not a hard song but,I couldn't tell if there was a swung 16th note pattern on the hi-hat during the intro. I now see that there is not.

Yes, this is true! I also use DrumBurp since a couple months ago. Together with the LilyPond software you can even transfer drum tabs into drum notation.

A mobile application for managing Click Tracks:
- marking timelines to navigate across guitar solos, verses and choruses
- slowing down the playback speed to hear what is being played and easily learn it
- recording video while playing audio tracks to easily make drum covers or record your own live performances - a drum cam and a Click Track Player in one device

I highly recommend :)

I am developing https://drumpattern.net
It is drum-machine for on any desktop or mobile device.
I started this project to expand my drumming library and to help other begginer drummers.
With drumpattern.net you can:
- make drum beats from scratch
- make permutations of the original beats
- create your own drum pattern library
- sharing drum beats via url
- download drum beats in wav-format

I have started a blog that is all about drum lessons. As you might have suspected, it's called 'The Drum Lesson Blog'. Mostly video lessons, but also written blog posts.

http://richardondrums.com/thedrumlessonblog

Would love for you to check it out and tell me what you think.

Topics include: Creating linear grooves, how to know what to practice, challenging ways to practice rudiments, dynamic hand technique, odd time signatures with rudiments, how to balance theory & practicing, creative tools to use and more.

Have an awesome day,
Richard

I found this amazing electronic drum set solo by Issah Contractor a while ago. It shows that electronic drums really are a different kettle of fish, since you can harness both rhythm and melody. Check it out - it's mind-blowing!

Completely unsolicited bump here for our own Todd Bishop's site, www.cruiseshipdrummer.com . Been seeing this in his signature for ages but finally checked it out when he recently posted a link to some exercises and...holy crap! There's an awful lot of really cool, really useful stuff there! Absolutely worth checking out.

Hey guys!
I don't mean to spam but here is an App for iOS which could be very handy to play your backing tracks for practicing (or live performance). It's free.
The cool thing is that it allows you to mix the backing tracks and save it for a later session.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/live...2092?ls=1&mt=8

You can load your tracks using iTunes "File Sharing". It currently supports WAV and OGG.

This might be a classic link for long time Drummerworld people (I was a lurker here all throughout my teens - but somehow never created an account :0). I don't think I'm the only one that was tremendously helped by Derrick Pope's fantastic training videos. Moeller technique, heel-toe, and other stuff. https://www.youtube.com/user/djp132

He also had a great tutorial video on some pretty sick stick tricks (decent ones, not the usual simple stuff) which I absolutely loved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duDUi94e91w

Also - anything by Dom Famularo (The book "it's your move" for example - classic).
