If you are there, grab a Mic and let the folks know that he is missed by all of his friends at Drummerworld. Thanks for posting.

With only 10 days' notice, what's the possibility and how appropriate would it be for us to submit an individual, short video message? It can be done on a phone, nothing fancy, just sincere, and maybe 15 seconds. Granted, Maurice's life didn't center around this forum, but maybe a 5 minute presentation of community members would be nice?

The question is, who would be willing to assemble the clips? We'd email the videos (I repeat: short!) and they would edit them together and forward to 60's Drummer (I assume you're going to be there?)

Just a thought... I'd definitely send something.

Beautiful thought, Bermuda. It would be appropriate! I plan to attend so can deliver.

Awesome.

Edit to add: If nothing else, I'll printout this thread and present that to his family.

Actually, that might be more realistic, and give the family something to hold onto. I'll think of something and post it in this thread.

I never really saw Zickos around here on Drummerworld, but he had to be one of the coolest people to know on the forum for those who really knew him.

I called Cindy this morning and left a message on the machine that all of us at Drummerworld would be thinking about him.

Yeah me too G.

I can't say our paths crossed all too often at all. We really didn't have a lot of direct, one on one, contact in the scope of things. But being a pretty active member here, I certainly stumbled across many of his posts......daily.

It's funny how you feel like you get to know people just by doing that.

Nice guy. Plenty to add. Sorely missed. And this place is lacking without the continued input of guys like Zickos and SteveB etc. Sincerely hope they're rippin' it up and layin' it down.......wherever they are now!!

Well, I'm not always great with words, but here's my contribution.

"Maurice brought a mature perspective to the Drummerworld forum, and was a respected member of this community. His presence continues to be missed."

There is also a thread from the time he passed, with a lot of nice words and fresh emotions:

Maybe grab a few thoughts from there?

I've always enjoyed seeing Maurice on here and seeing what he had to say. He was a valued member of this forum and his contribution is missed. I only chatted with him a couple times, but his advice was always sound advice. RIP, Maurice.

To all those interested - Maurice was active with the Granville Community Music School in OKC - "Named after Opry founder Granville (Grant) Leftwich, Granville provides quality music instruction to talented children from low-income families for the nominal fee of 50 cents per lesson. Granville is modeled after Nashville’s long-running, highly-successful W. O. Smith Community Music School."

More info on their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Granville-C...5638823246307/

Thanks for the pm, Brady!
