Default What did he put on the drum at 2:07

In the 35 years I've been playing I've never seen this. I don't want this to be a bash fest on Cobus, just curious as to what he put on the snare about 2:07 gives it a fatter sound and deadens it a bit.

That's the Big Fat Drum overlay, a commercial version of what studio guys have been doing for 40+ years with a cut-out circle from a new head. He's using the one with jingles (not my cup of tea.)

Many discussions about it on Drummerworld.

Bermuda

PS - I think a head cut-out sounds fatter & wetter. :)

Edit: As I was typing, it looks like Bermuda was already submitting the answer.

It looks like the Big Fat Snare Drum "Snare-Bourine" topper (see link).
