Default Original Backing Tracks

Hi fellow drummers,

It's probably been asked before but I couldn't find any specific discussion on it. Does anybody know where some drummers get original backing tracks from and upload to YouTube? I couldn't find anything on this on a Google search. Feels cryptic. The only way I think this happens is by removing the drum track with expertise / software?

Thanks!

Below are some eg's.

The TOTO cover is fantastic!!

I usually search for drumless on YouTube and get a pretty decent list. Most are common hits, so not a lot outside of that. There's also a slew of original tracks by genre that you could work with to just work on grooves, etc.

You could also search for toutorials and make your own. You could also use Spotify's premium service and essentially create a drum karaoke playlist.

Thanks guys! I've noticed there's heaps of karaoke tracks available but I more interested in original backing tracks. I emailed one the the drummers from one of the covers below who got back to me saying that the way most drummers do it is by actually playing over the whole track which includes the original drum track and then somehow mixing their drum track so it is loud enough without the original cutting through. Might have to take up audio engineering.

That is indeed the way. The main reason that drumless originals exist is for rhythm games like Rock Band, etc. Otherwise it's a considerable amount of effort for the studio to re-mix the track, for something that won't be commercially released.
