Default Patrick McGoohan drum solo

I'm watching this old British 1960s movie that happens to be on tv about jazz musicians and it stars legendary actor Patrick McGoohan. He takes this drum solo and I'm like wtf, I had no idea he was an accomplished drummer! Here's the solo

Apparently though, not is all as it seems. Apparently what he did was lock himself away in a garage for hours miming to Joe Morello's solo. He did well though didn't he!

PM, was one of my favourite actors. I'm sure I watched every episode of Danger Man.

As for PM's solo, pretty darned good. Took me by storm really.

Why does it seem that everyone in that clip is hating life?

Because they were just numbers, not people.

Claim in the comments is that he's miming to Joe Morello ... if he is actually playing, I'd love to know how he gets that ride skip beat without moving his fingers at all. :-P

And he's Steinmetz, Nelson Brenner, the Warden of Alcatraz and King Edward Longshanks to boot! Thanks for sharing this!

I noticed a couple of questionable bars myself.

Gotta love the sense of menace in that clip. Almost looks like it's going to be death by drums. :D

Can anyone identify what drums and cymbals he's using? I'm wondering if the cymbals are vintage Zildjian As or Ks. I'm more inclined to say they're probably entry level low end Ajax or Zyn/Super Zyn which were popular back then.

Trixon drums were also popular then in the UK.

Mmmm, could probably say that about John Bonham too.

I tend think that they were Sonor drums or an imitation thereof.

If it's any consolation, the hours was just to get to look like he sounded like Morello. :)

Dont know why people are sweating it, it was a bit of fun. Was he playing, wasnt he? What equipment was he using? He is/was an actor, he was acting. Accept it for what it is, an amazing acting performance.
