Default One Song

If you could have played the drums/been the drummer on one song, what song would that be?

It would have to a James Brown Clyde or Jabo number, so I'll go with Cold Sweat.

I love that song. It's on my list of songs to practice pretty regularly.
I'd have to go with Billie Jean. More air play and if we're talking getting paid, then that one would fund some regular fun. That song will leave a mark for a long time too and decades from now people could be debating if I was any good like Ringo! :)

When The Levee Breaks. Simple but instantly recognisable, and a signature drumming performance that makes the song. One of the ultimate drum grooves that I just wallow in, even though I am not a Rock drummer. The micro timing needed to make it groove is addictive. Magic.

There are tons of songs that I sometimes love to hear, but very few songs that I always love to hear, to whit:

Jimmy Cliff's "I Can See Clearly Now"

Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good"

They make me feel happy.

Burn - Deep Purple, I would love to have a little bit of what Ian Paice had!
Of course I would have picked another song some other day, maybe something with Barrie Barlow of Jethro Tull or some Genesis song with Phil Collins from the seventies.

Jesus, probably more a reflection of my drumming skills as much as anything, but you've picked a song there I've battled to play through for donkey's years.

"Representing the Mambo" by Little Feat.
Of course I could never have done that song with that swampy groove that Richie Hayward had.

Since I'm wishing, I'd like it to be on a song that is not yet written, where I wrote the song, and it hits a nerve and becomes part of the culture.

I could have helped them sound better as a band.
Which is my primary job as a drummer.

Absolutely ace, choice. There is a live version of Maceo's Shake Everything You've Got with Dennis Chambers on drums. Well the whole album has Dennis Chambers.
