Default How many brands of drum gear have YOU owned?

I thought this would be a fun little Drummer World game:

Simply list every brand of Drums, Cymbals, Sticks, and Hardware you have owned and name your favorite one. (No need for least-favorites please)

My list is pretty long, so hear we go:

Drums:
CB700
Leedy
Ludwig
Leedy and Ludwig
Slingerland
Taye
Premier
Pulse
Sonor
Pearl
LP
Toca
Mapex
Favorite: Slingerland

Cymbals
Zildjian
Sabian
Paiste
Saluda
Wuhan
Stagg
Meinl
Soultone
Favorite:Up to a few days ago a would have said Saluda, but after acquiring some, I'm gonna have to go with Paiste

Sticks
Vic Firth
Vater
Promark
Cooperman
Regal Tip
Meinl (Timbale Sticks)
Innovative Percussion
Favorite: Can't Decide

Hardware
I honestly think I've owned a peice of every brand at this point
Favorite: Vintage Ludwig or Slingerland

Now it's your turn!

In approximately temporal order:

Starfire (1991)- First 5pc drum set (long gone) and a pretty decent cymbal stand that I bought around 2001 and still have. I can't find any reference about this brand.

Meinl (1992) - First cymbal, a 8" splash IIRC. It eventually broke around 1996-1997. Also bought my second Meinl cymbal a few weeks ago, a 17" Gen-X China Crash.

Thunder by Taye (2000) - Second 5pc drum set (still have it)

Camber (2000) - Second set of cymbals (14" hi-hats and 18" crash-ride). Still have the 18" (fissured) but no longer use it. Might hang it on the wall as decoration or something. My first hihats (1992) could have also been Cambers, but I don't remember.

Sabian (2001) - My first proper ride, a 20" Sabian Pro that I still own and love.

Paiste (2005) - My first "decent" set of cymbals (14" HH, 16" Crash, 20" ride), a set of PST3s that I used for 11 years until last Xmas. Added a 18" PST3 crash-ride in September 2016.

Power Beat (2005) - A simple straight cymbal stand that I still have.

Tama (2005) - Clamp with cymbal boom.

Sonor (2016) - My first "brand" kit - an SSE Player with HS-200 hardware.

Owl Classic Cymbals (2016) - My first good/great cymbals. Bought a kit of HH/Ride/2xCrash for each drumset.

Wuhan (2017) - Just bought a 10" splash that is great for the price ($25)

Other stuff:

Zildjian - Sticks and my cymbal bag.

Vic Firth - Sticks.

Plus lots of sticks from random unknown brands.

Remo - Always buy Remo Coated Ambassador for my snare batter head.

Evans - Using EMAD heads for the bass drum batter since last year.

Aquarian - Using Studio-X batter heads for toms batter since last year.

I've never ever changed a resonant head ever. Always used the stock ones.

Percussions:

Meinl: A pair of maracas, a hi-hat tamborine, a jingle Darbuka and a Doumbek.

Drum Box Percussion: A mexican brand of artisan cajons.

Unbranded cowbells, bongos, maracas, and other assorted percussions.

Electronic drums:

Roland - SPD-11 octapad (long gone), HD-1 V-Drums Lite, HPD-10 Handsonic

Korg - Wavedrum ("new", standard version)

Drum machines: I've owned several. Will only list the ones I still have.

Korg - ER-1, Volca Beats
Akai - XR-20
Elektron - Machinedrum UW
Emu - MP-7

Drum kit : Tama (five different !), now : Premier
Training kit : Roland (3 different), now : Arbiter Flat.
Hardware and pedals : all Tama from the beginning.
Cymbals : poor first price Paiste, and after till now : Sabian with the exception of a wonderful Ufip.
Heads are all Evans from a very long time.

As I look around at all the brands you guys show, I would have no idea except for drum sets. If I see or hear something I want, I buy it. Brand doesn't bother me.

Drums-
Ludwig Rocker II
Tama Artstar II
Pearl MMX
Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveau
Tama Stagestar (still have)
Pearl Vision VSX
Yamaha Stage Custom (still have)
Mapex Saturn (still have)

The Saturn is hands down my favorite kit that I've owned; second place goes to the Artstar II (sizes of the power toms got old, but the kit did sound awesome)

Cymbals-
Zildjian
Sabian
Paiste

I like all of them, but stick with mostly Zildjian and some Sabians due to price and availability

Sticks-
Pro Mark
Regal Tip
Vic Firth
Tama Power Tools (pretty sure Vater made these for Tama before launching their own brand; they had the squared off butts just like Vaters)
Ludwig
Rim Shot
Capella
Vater
Zildjian

Vic Firth is what I use the most these days. I used mostly Regal Tip in my early years, but I also remember really liking Rim Shot sticks in the mid 90's. Sadly, they went out of business though.

This thread puts a white hot spotlight on what's (IMO wrongly) most important to drummers, gear.

How many mechanics talk at such length about their wrenches?

It's a massive side track to the really important stuff.

I'd ask, how many styles of music can you play. (not referring to anyone in particular)

I mean I get it, I love gear too. I just had to say this.

You're right, mechanics don't talk about wrenches... they talk about the cars they've had, the cars they still have, and what mods/performance parts they've done. For me this thread is a walk down memory lane. I remember who I was playing with, how bad my playing was, what bars I played gigs at that changed owners or closed up... its not just about the gear. As I was typing up my list of gear, I was enjoying the deep groove of Jim Bogios (letting clip after clip roll on YouTube). Love that guy's playing.

Point well taken Larry. For me, this forum is all about education, and the discussion of gear is but one small facet of education.

Jesse James (master fabricator/welder/designer) opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for both veteran and younger fabricators
by sharing about the importance of vintage tools: the english wheel, yoder power hammer, blacksmithing, etc. The right tools in the right hands
unleash creativity. In the end, it's not so much the tool as it is what you personally create with it.

No other instrument can be so personalized and varied as drums. I think a lot of drummers struggle for years to find their sound--I know I did--until
they understand how to achieve that sound. That's part of the educational process.

I'm 50 "plus" years into this journey and I think one of the crucial things we can all offer here on this forum is a legacy of education across the board
regarding gear, technique, sound & tuning, recording, professionalism, the business side of music, ethics, etc.

Props to all the drum, cymbal and percussion manufacturers who help us achieve the elusive sound we're after.

Props to the members here who have and continue to educate me in so many areas.

Props to you Larry for your ongoing legacy here on this forum. Thanks for opening up the new thread on How many styles of music can you play well?
and keeping us focused and balanced.

I'd ask, how many styles of music can you play. (not referring to anyone in particular)

I mean I get it, I love gear too. I just had to say this.
Styles played:

Rock (several sub genres)
Pop
Country
Jazz/swing
Disco
Funk

Favorite: rock

Honestly, not as much fun to create this list.
