"Man of Constant Sorrow"

Performed by the guys who recorded it, with Alison Krauss.

I just dig the deep feel of this tune.

The jambalaya of all the instruments completely floors me.

There's no drummer, but drum parts are being played.

Indeed nice stuff, I like her work. I like some bluegrass but hate that it has no drums. My wife was a bluegrasser and tells me by definition there is no drums, only bass. Some of it is screaming for drum parts ,even subtle-y.Those bluegrassers ought to broaden their horizons and add drums, no?
Oh wait, they've been fine like this for a hundred years.

The bodhran, a frame drum, gets used in traditional Irish music. That's all I got, sorry.

I think the "no drummer" thing was a sign of the times. This music was happening before the advent of the drum or drumset for the common people. Plus, when the Grand Ole Opry happening, they had a rule of "no drummers" as well, reinforcing the old tradition.

One of my favs from the genre if you're into it.

Lots of BG does have drums, but I will admit that it's pretty train-beat oriented in a lot of cases. It's also notable that like Larry pointed out, the music is so percussive that often other string instruments will actually fill the role drums might. Fiddle players using their bow almost like a drumstick to whack at the strings and sound percussive and the like.

I prefer washboard and stomp tub with my bluegrass.

They even make electric ones now.
