Default What would you get?

Hey lets try this I saw it on another forum.

What would you buy if you had a budget of $5500 but you had to get everything. Hardware, Cymbals, and Drums.

If you can post links with prices that would be best. lets see what we can come up with staying under $5500 USD!! *Before Taxes*

Gretsch Broadkaster, Anniversary Sparkle, vintage build 8x12, 14x14, 14x18, 5.5x14 - http://www.maxwelldrums.com/gretsch-...88_21_545.html
$3400

Hardware:
http://memphisdrumshop.com/yamaha-70...re-pack-hw-780

Throne:
DW Round Throne - http://memphisdrumshop.com/dw-3100-r...hrone-dwcp3100

$449.95
Sabian 15" Artisan Hats - http://memphisdrumshop.com/sabian-15...-cymbals-a1502

If I actually had that much to spend on a kit, I'd need more because I'd seriously look into some Pearl MasterWorks drums. I already have Reference Pures so I guess I'm already beyond the $5500 limit anyway, so I'd have to go up ;)

I agree, if I had that money I'd want a bit more so I can get some Sonor SQ2's.

I'd buy a Sonor Prolite in nussbaum (Mmm, I already have) simply because I prefer the prolite shell for the lower fundamental and I'm not paying thousands of extra quid just to get a nice finish ply on the SQ2s.

A full set of Paiste Signatures, gibraltar rack, pearl eliminator chain drive double pedal and pearl boom arms (plus all other accessories like throne + hihat)

I'd love a Artist Bronze snare but that would probably take me over the threshold so a nice black beauty would be lovely (will be my next purchase)

Over the years, the idea of a Pearl reference has always appealed to me

I'd do my best to try to find a set of Mapex Orion in Teal Burst.

After that, nothing would matter.

I don't think I'm ready for a $5500 kit, but I actually like the OP's original idea: Gretsch Broadkaster with Artisan cymbals.

Basically I do have everything I need. But let's play the game.

Tama Starclassic Maple (instead of my B/Bs ... just for a change) Studio (20-12-14), in piano black, 1 up 1 down. 2199,-
Yamaha RC Aluminium snare 14x6,5. 499,-
Tama 1st Chair 299,-
Yamaha HS1200D Hihat 229,-
Yamaha SS740a Snarestand 69,-
Sakae CS20F Flatbase (3x) 177,-
UFiP 15" Natural Light Hihat 459,-
UFiP 17" Natural Crash 300,-
UFiP 20" Natural Crashride 361,-
UFiP 21" Natural Ride 375,-

= 4967,-

Some money left for a short vacation. :)

Edit:
Hmm... not a big difference to my (main) Starclassic Red Oyster kit ... I just calculated what I spent for it and its 4047 bucks (without side-snare or other additional snares). Uh uh... I better stop calculating how much money I've already spent on all my drumsets. :-|

If I had $5k to spend on drums, and had to spend it all, it'd go something like this:

- $1500 on a small trailer to haul it all in, small enough to pull behind my medium sized sedan, but big enough to hold the rest of the gear....

- $1500 on whatever cool drum kit strikes my fancy

- $1000 on cymbals and whatever hardware didn't make it in the kit package

- $1000 on a lightweight riser, and miscellaneous ancillary stuff not covered above.

I don't need ultra fancy stuff. But some cool new stuff would be fun.

Easy. I'd get this

https://lansing.craigslist.org/msg/5982636099.html

and the awesomest Guru snare I could order.

And, maybe a new set of VF AJ5 sticks if I still had a couple of bucks left over.
