ahhh craigslist my favorites are the very questionable "brands", people using "symbols" amd "seat"....and of course the 11 piece kits that have a tom and a snare, like not even a bass drum.

I 'think' that what you see there is blue/grey pearl wrap thats been put through a tanning booth (or worse). There are additional pics on craigslist. The poor kit looks like it needs some TLC, and I'd adopt it as a side-restoration-project if the price was $350-ish.

Ah! A fellow South African person. I welcome you.

I once found one drumstick for sale. nothing special. just a drumstick. he was asking half the price that a pair would be new. (makes sense actually)

Here's one - a NEW Whitehall drum set from the 70's

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/msg/4545797273.html

"New whitehall drum set - from the early 70"s - these are what the super stars used. NEVERS USED EXCEPT THE GRANKIDS PLAYING WITH THEM - SOME PIECES ARE STILL IN PLASTIC - WE GOT THESE IN A ESTATE SALE - these are new but have dust & dirt from siting in the old house we got them from. most is shown in pic - might be some other stuff to go with it. a lot of drum sticks. there are like 8 pieces to this plus the round cushin chair. $450 OBO, WAS LISTED FOR $850 thanks"

Whitehall was very much ahead of their time given the chain drive pedal, Pearl Export style double tom holder, and memory locks! :)

What a scam!

Very clean lightly used, dont have a cage for snare. Comes with a tuning fork. If you want to know more please contact me at
show contact info
150$ o.b.o

Considering all of the dents in the heads, this doesn't look very "lightly used". And what the heck is a "tuning fork"? ;)

Above ad - I guess you have to let your snare "out of the cage" to play it.
Ad should say "if you want to know more, and be grossly misinformed, contact me"

Here is a semi local contribution:

http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/msg/4571374686.html

Love how a 5 piece becomes a 7 piece simply because it has hi hats and a cymbal. Also a non typical "on the floor" setup :)

What a scam!

But dude, these are new, never used drums. Other than the grandkids playing them and them sitting out in the dirt of the old house for 40 years, they are NEW, UNUSED drums. C'mon, man.

Wow another "vintage" drum set in the St. Louis area. Not only do these 1968 Pearls look just like a late 90's vintage Export set, but they also have a history as they were used to record the classic rock staple "Smokin' in the Boys Room" by Brownsville Station. What a bargain at only $2000!

I think this may be the same con artist who was selling the "New Vintage" drums a few weeks ago that I posted. Should I report him before he swindles more idiots?

"Pearl set originally purchased in 1968 by a friend of family that was Drummer and played this set for band (Brownsville Station) and made classics like(smoking in the boys room) and more.10 pc set with roto toms, wind chimes, rogers vintage swivelmatic hi hat and pedal and alot more with cases for storage and transport.im going thru process right now of trying to track serial number badge for build date and more info.i know the shells are maple and everything is original green in color but new dual skin heads have been replaced because of wear.this is the real Mccoy and a purchase of a lifetime.these drums sound and play awesome.i will update this with pics soon and more info. Please contact 618-Five40-8599 if you are serious in this classic set.possible connection for autograph from original drummer as he is still alive in his retirement years, and living in st.louis area.He told me this price is actually close to what he paid for set in 1968.so you kno this was top of the line back then, because this was alot of money as you could by a new car for 5 to 8k.More info coming asap. This is first advertizement as this set is going to be on ebay soon if it dont sell.A great opportunity for a true piece of american music history."

I flagged the ad. I've never done that before, but this was an obvious scam. We live in the information age, and I would think that someone would do some research before they threw 2K on a "vintage drum set". A visit to Wikipedia will prove that the drummer for Brownsville Station who recorded Smokin' in the Boys Room is not retired and living in the St. Louis area, but is still on the road with the band.

Christmas present, never used. I picked up a Yamaha snare like that on eBay, not even a stick mark on the head. Really cheap... 20 buck plus shipping.

Looks like the badge says Squire. Not clear but it doesn't appear to read long enough for Slingerland.

Actually these ARE Slingerland. Squire entry level, during later takeover years or 1980's, just before they went out of biz. Check out the lug shapes, and shape of the "S" on the badge, a giveaway. But surely not worth $700.
