Default Resonant head for dark sound

I recently put up a thread about the Remo controlled sound for my tom batters. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being brighter sounding and 10 being darker sounding) the controlled sound would be a 5 from study. I want those for sure to be my batter heads but I want a slightly darker sound. What resonant head should I get so my toms would sound darker. I don't care what drumhead manufacturer it is made from I just need somebody to tell me how I can achieve my sound.

Thanks!

Im not sure how much effect a reso has on darkness, but i can say i had a cs which was 3 years old and very dirty and worn which sounded way darker than when bought.

You will probably want to give Evans' EC Resonant heads a go for a much darker sound. Your local store may not have them in stock, though. You may have to have them special-ordered.

I agree. My toms have EC Resonants, and I really like them. Peace and goodwill.

I used to have a kit that came with beat up EC reso's on the 14 and 16 hanging floor toms.

The 14 was my favorite it had a g1 coated on batter and an ec reso on bottom and sounded amazing. Seemed to be pretty dark, and pretty lively.

The 16 had a g2 coated on batter and an ec reso on bottom and sounded really dark as well, not as lively as the 14 but still sounded good.
