I am a fire and life safety specialist currently with a large hospital. I read and implement a lot of codes and standards...and actually enjoy it. I am also licensed to design and work on fire suppression and alarm systems.

Prior to this I was a firefighter/inspector for the USAF, (fire-sgt-911), but retired due to injuries recieved on the job.

I'm the web developer for my dad's business, Tapeworks Graphics. We make decals for motorcycles. www.tapeworks.com

Hopefully I'll be interning at a high-end studio here in NC, and hopefully that turns into paid gigs.

I own a company that performs non-destructive testing and special processing for the aerospace industry. Our client base includes: Boeing, Lockheed, Sikorsky and others (but NOT Airbus)

Having finished clearing up other people's (daughters') sh*t for the day, my 9-5 job is co-running Mr Madge's value & risk management/facilitation/Lean Six Sigma consultancy. Mr Madge is the miracle-worker, but he'd be NOTHING without an expert in medieval French literature.

I'm pretty sure I know how you got to be your daughter's detritus gatherer, but how/why on earth did you get into medieval French literature? Did you discover the opposite sex at age 30? ;) ;) ;)

I'll have you know that I was introduced to it when I was thirteen. And never looked back, thank you Mrs Gray <3 My medieval French is waaaay better than Henri's. But his drumming is waaaay better than mine :/

I'll make sure I leave the go-to medieval French tome in the downstairs loo for you to enjoy, but don't spend too long: over-cooked pasta is vile.

Surveyor. Thinking about getting a second job and going back to swim coaching if I can find a team that practices late enough for me to get to on time after work. I wasted a lot of time and money on an engineering degree, seeing as nobody wants to hire entry level guys or offer experience jobs of any sort.

*First 23 years as an Air Force Pilot. Retired Lt. Colonel flying DC-10's
*Next 8 years Airline Pilot DC-9, MD-80's... last 5 years, B-747.
*Two wives later I had the brilliant idea to come off of the road. So, I quit flying to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. I'm blessed to take care of sick and aging seniors. I'm calling it quits in 3 years and then wife number 3 can take care of me. Or not :o

University student (literature and linguistics). Also, still following drumming and percussion classes. I have my "classical" degree (took me ten years) and now I'm close to finishing the jazz and pop section. After I've done that, it seems that I cannot do anything more at the "music school" I am at right now. Not concerning drums any way. Which is a shame: for all the time that I have been drumming, I have had the same teacher and believe me - he is the very best teacher E-VER!

Anyway, next to being a student I also like eating chocolate chip muffins.

For anyone that's interested in what I do (precious few, I'd imagine):

I'm a support worker for a mental health charity. I work with individuals and groups with mental health issues, supporting their recovery, working over finances, trying to build confidence to empower individuals and sometimes invoking procedures to prevent suicide, if necessary. I also run cognitive behavioural therapy sessions and a theatre group.

It's the best *&%^ing job I've ever had and I love it. It's very rough sometimes and certain things can hit you very hard but it's wonderfully rewarding.

I'm a Registered Mental Nurse, which I started when I left school in 1980. Worked within various spheres of the NHS, lastly as a CPN. Left the NHS in 95 to work in various Nursing Homes.
I've worked for a Nursing Agency for 10 years, & for the last 5 of them have been looking after one lad with learning & physical disabilities Mon-Fri. We go to a theatre group 3 days a week, plus music groups, swimming sessions, & general days out. Best job ever.

Actually we do. We sell systems to Boeing, Airbus, Bell, Lockheed, etc. Hey, even Spirit Wichita (ex Boeing facility) does work for both Airbus and Boeing!

I'm a professional drummer but for the past five years I've been a web developer for small businesses, musicians and some percussion industry companies aside from http://stonecustomdrum.com. When the drum work slows down the web dev stuff usually picks up and vice versa. So I'm pretty much always busy.

Sometimes being a professional drummer doesn't always involve *just* hitting things with sticks. There's many facets to working in the creative world as a musician. The more outside the box you think, the better.

I am a crew scheduler at an airline that flys cargo with 747s all over the world.
In other words-I put pilots in the seats. I have to follow contractual and federal regulations. Can be a challenge when you have maintenance and weather delays and you need to make sure the next flight goes out on time.

Plus you get to deal with all of the drama from the pilots themselves.

I am a college professor. I teach electrical engineering technology majors mostly (electrical circuit theory, semiconductors, microprocessors/microcontrollers). I also teach some computer science (Python) and science/physics for non-majors (I developed a natural science elective called Science of Sound- lots of fun there).

I also write a lot (two editions of a linear semiconductors text, a bunch of lab manuals, and I don't know how many articles for electronics/computer/music magazines. Many years ago I wrote a short-lived column for Modern Drummer on electronic drums. This was when MIDI was new. I think it was around 1987 or so.

Then there's my software company, dissidents. Audio analysis and editing software mostly.

And sometimes I draw cartoons. Like my avatar. That's been around for decades.

I listed mine in an earlier post - IT stuff. I HATE IT and want OUT! I would love to have a job either delivering stuff (not using 18 wheelers) or mowing lawns or something. I am at that Office Space point where if one more person asks me a question I already answered I will explode. From the outside my job looks awesome - decent pay, benefits etc. But I am so sick of office crap and fixing things. I don't want to solve problems any more.

Any suggestions?

I am interested, my wife works in this field, so I know and respect the amount of work you and Dodeska have to do, with the numerous challenges, but also know that this work can, and does, make huge difference to peoples lives, up to the extent of literally giving people a different outlook on their lives and fresh start. Kudos to you both.

Thank you. It's really very rough at the moment but it gets easier sometimes. The job can be its own reward sometimes.
