Default Since you are drummer, do people expect you to do a drum roll during the new years countdown?

I imagine those people are really annoying.

A friend of mine who played bass in a lot of bar bands but is also a drummer said that whenever as a gag someone would call for a "drum roll please" most guys couldn't do it right anyway.

You know in my line of work, you gotta be able either to sing "The Battle Hymn Of The Republic" or "Dixie" with equal enthusiasm... dependin' upon present company.

Who expects the drummer to roll in Christmas Eve? Maybe a New Years' cocktail party where people might not shout out the countdown. I haven't played a NY cocktail party before but I'd like to!
