Default What are the cheap Alesis Pro5 Electric kits like?

I saw some electric kits such as the Alesis pro 5 being sold incredibly cheaply. I used to know a guy who had an electric kit with the black rubber pads. Is the Alesis a step up from those black rubber padded kits? Do they feel like a real drum when hitting them? Obviously they won't be as good as Roland mesh pads, but some people say they are surprisingly close to the sensitivity of a real drum. Most importantly are they sensitive enough to practice rudiments on, and hear the noise from the kit when playing them fast?

Thanks in advance.

I had a quick shot on one of these. It has an amazingly horrible feel to them and they are very small pads. Although they are good a creating a noise, the feel of the pad is like cheap plastic smack feel/noise. Not recommended at all, you may as buy a set of standing rubber pads shaped like a drum kit.

it's a cheap way (with a good feel and sound). look over entire thread 1st!
The 1 pic was an old DIY...scroll down before you discount it. True its no Roland set but it will get ya playing for not alot of coin.

Not only are the feel and sound response lacking, but the durability (in a physical AND electronic sense) will also disappoint.
